Happy Halloween everyone!  We just had our first trick-or-treaters come to the door.  Any surviving candy at the end of the night is mine.    Halloween is also the anniversary of my family moving to New Jersey.  We moved from Long Island on October 31, 1986.  My mother had our costumes in a suitcase and ready to go for the three of us.  Free candy helped with the trauma of moving.  God, it's been 28 years already!

It was a couple really little kids, right after school let out.  We'll get more later.  Two years ago at this time we didn't have any!    That was largely because we were only three days into the ordeal that was the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.  Forget no trick-or-treat, we had no power and no heat.......

Pretty funny.  We only got 3 kids tonight which is fine by me.  Mine are older so no trick or treating for them.  I just watched an interesting show about the origins of Halloween.

Yeah right, the little guys been up now since err, 7? And the others still sleeping, lol, I don't even want to know how much the little ones put down already! But as for the older one, that boy and EAT! He puts down more food then me and his mother put together, and yet he's only 14! I guess one of the disadvantage of being on the football team JR

I went down to my pub for a quiet drink and a catch up last night, forgetting that people do stuff on the 31st of October for some reason.
Bloody place was packed. All those people in *my* pub. I had to wait to get a drink, I couldn't just walk behind the bar and help myself, it was a job finding somewhere to sit... 

Ah well. Eventually managed to nab a table behind a wall from where the band were which was a bit quieter and I could talk to one of the people I went down there to see.

Still, the land-people had done a good job decorating the place, the band were pretty good (if rather loud), some people had obviously gone to some effort with their costumes and it's nice that they can pack a village pub. The more people that do come in on a night like that, the more chance I have of them staying and keeping the pub open for me the rest of the year

Okay, I know I was bitching about it before, but my semi-girlfriend loves dress-up and I must commend her efforts.

I wasn't going to carve any this year. But at the last minute I wanted to and didn't have any pumpkins.
Someone very sweet went out on Halloween day- picked them out and dropped them off for me
Not my best work- but I only had about 45mins in total to gut and carve them both.

I'd love to say I used the freestyle to do this. But I gave up after cutting half a lid of a pumpkin off.
