mine arrived today! :woohoo: sorry for the flash-heavy pics, but I didn't want to wait for better lighting because that would have meant waiting until daylight tomorrow. :D

I received a very generous gift from eddie1115... a Huntsman, a Compact, and an iTP A3 EOS Titanium light! :o

(Image removed from quote.)

(Image removed from quote.)

eddie and I completed a trade a couple months ago where he traded me a modded Yeoman, and he put new Sapphire plus scales on it for me. why do I bring this up? because he remembered how badly I wanted green scales, but we couldn't find any green plus scales at the time of our trade! these translucent green (emerald?) plus scales are gorgeous... now I just have to decide whether to put them on the Yeoman or leave them on the Compact. truly a terrible problem to have, I know. ::)

thank you very much, eddie. this was a great gift to receive, and it really made my day. :) now I've just got to carry this Huntsman and Compact as much as I can in the next 5 days before Kampfer's Skeletool challenge begins...

oh, and you have great taste in lights as well... my normal EDC light is an Olight i3S. ;) might have to give that one a break and go with titanium for awhile! :D

Glad you like them!   When I got your name in the draw, I knew I needed something with emerald scales.  And if you decide to move the scales, you can always tear down the Compact and put the parts into your next LM mod ;)

seriously, thank you so much! I had the biggest grin on my face when I opened the box and saw the emerald scales. :D

I haven't decided yet if I'm going to move them over to the Yeoman (because I really like the sapphire scales too), but I'll be sure to let you know if I do. ;)

I do like the sapphire as well, I actually just ordered another set for my Super Tinker.  Either way, enjoy! (Until December anyway ;) )

Got my package today... its super awesome but I'm afraid I have to return it... Pretty sure Chako did loot a knife-shop :D

Folding knifes in all shapes and colors. Best of all they are all lockbacks, just the way I love my knifes :tu: (I think someone is readying my posts :P).

No, thats not all folks, I also got a walking Zombie, a small ratchet with bits, a Canadien Sock Purse , a Canadian Souvenir Coin, a Diamond Sharpener and Chocolate!
Not to forget the Mora. My first Mora :salute: with a original Swedish FireSteel® firestarter. As if he knew that this is my latest hobby :ahhh.
In fact there was sooooo much I only found the Keychain Pocker Chip after taking pictures

The heart of the collection is of course the 50th anniversary buck. What a beauty  and she doesn't have to hide her inner values either

So I received an awesome package from breezy12 today.
He has introduced me to leatherman.
I got an incredible packed tool. The squirt. I am shocked with the pliers in it. Seems very nice for such a small package. Then the knife and file and everything else in it. Very nice.
Then an icar GAK really neat to see a non vic GAK and comparing it to a vic.  Neat.
Then a leatherman piranha very neat. Then he managed to send me a vic I didn't have. An ambassador, really neat knife.

love this pic! :) so what was his verdict on comparing the two GAKs?? ;)

and I'm really glad to hear that you like the gifts. hopefully the Squirt will be a great introduction to the world of Leatherman for you. I know some people have experienced QC issues with the Squirt line recently, so I took that one out of the box and did a quick check before sending it off. I certainly didn't want your first LM to be a lemon. ;)

I sent mine two weeks ago. I hoped it would be received by now.

OK, no need to panic, let's  see the facts.
There are 19 packages. 10 reached their destination, 9 of them from North America (most are local post and not  international) and one from Switzerland.
None from the 5 EU members. And there are still 4 US packages non delivered yet.
We'll have to wait a bit but that thread about lost in the post made me anxious.

Both GAK's feature's are the same but the icar looks as though the pieces were copied from the Vic. The icar scales just aren't as crisp looking as the Vic's. The blade of the icar doesn't look as nicely finished as the Vic's.
Really neat to see the 2 together.
Thanks again breezy12

you're very welcome. :)

I know what you mean about comparing the two tools; I enjoy seeing the differences between original LM tools and cheap knockoffs that try to imitate them (especially some of the PST clones). I can't say I'm all that surprised that the fit & finish of the ICAR version wasn't up to par with the Vic. ;)

The ICAR, among others, was a licensed product issued to the Bundeswehr, not a Copy/Knockoff. The knives were produced to the same standards by a few knife makers across Europe and while all do their job, there are differences in fit and finish. AFAIk the Bundeswehr took the VIC as a template and others ahd to build to those specifications.
There are minor differences, some use steel liners and steel pins, the finish on the tool differs from polished (Vic, Adler, Aitor) to visible grind marks (CCM, ICAR, B&M).
There are a few threads about the GAK here.
There have been Copies, too. I would avoid these. I have seen unbranded, FOX, CJH, MFH, Mil Tec. While some are decent, you never know until you receive the knife. Many of those brands are just marketing barnds and put their stamp o knives from different suppliers. So you might get a well made GAK Copy from one of the actual manufacturers or a cheap POS.

And to get back to topic - Can´t wait to see the package I sent arrive - I hope the recipient likes the contents.

I received a sweet Dragonfly 2 in the mail today from a gentleman named nate. I wish he would have left his forum name.

I'm assuming that it's my ss gift.

It's awesome.  I dyed it blood orange.  It's more of a
red than orange.  It turned out very nice.

Thanks Nate whoever you are.   :tu:
