Dakine Warranty Service

So, I picked up the Dakine Team Mission pack to serve as my EDC bag for school this year. I had their Duel bag for 4 years prior and it was great to me, though it sure began showing its age. I figured I would step up to the bigger, more expensive Mission since I needed the extra space.

It's been two months and I've had two failures, one of the strap seams came un-stitched in about a month, now today one of the buckles holding the strap to the bag snapped. This sucks as I still have half a day ahead of me with a loaded bag!!! But I submitted my claim and figured I would give an update on how the warranty service goes.

Thanks buddy, from what I read of others experiences I believe they will. Just frustrating that it has only been two months of carrying a laptop and some notebooks when the thing is made for back country snowboarding and it quit on me.

The other one was beat and overloaded daily for 4 years and never gave me a single issue. Loaded up to around 40 pounds to hike Mount Washington a few months ago too.

Well its been a full week and I still haven't heard anything back unfortunately :-\

Time to start BANGING on their doors.  It's really annoying when a large company cannot or wont respond in a timely manner.

I sent a polite email asking for an update letting them know I've been left using their defective product for that full week. I didn't expect to have a new one already, just maybe an answer as to whats going on....

Unfortunately, that's the case for me as well. I'm hoping I just got a bad example, because the design and layout have been great. Thanks man

My dad wants me to go North Face, but actually one of my most used features is the skateboard straps on the front. I use them to hold my u-lock when I ride to class. It wouldn't bother me so much were it not for the fact that it cost me good money, and lasted less than two months of normal use.

So going on two weeks since I submitted the claim, still heard nothing back. I just called, and after the 4th try I got through. I gave my name and number and was told that a "warranty expert" would call me back within the hour. The woman was very pleasant, and hopefully the next is as well.

Never got the call back, just got off the phone with them and was speaking to who I assume was the warranty person. She said it was accepted and that I could either mail it back for repair, or destroy it and receive a code worth the 80 I paid.

If I mail it in, I have to pay to ship it there and then wait over two weeks for it to be repaired and returned. If I go the other route I have to totally ruin the pack I use daily then wait for the new one to arrive. Any thoughts on which direction I should go here?

I would go the destory and get a new one, only because you should get one back faster for classes. At the sametime, hate to see something destoyed when it can be fixed.

I agree, I might try to fix it after anyways and use it for less demanding work than EDC. I'm probably going to have to go that route because I can't really wait 2+ weeks for them to get back to me, nor am I too keen on this exact bag at this point.
