... What else can you say that requires so little care yet is so darn tuff?

A Swisstool ...  ?

You might be right.

I wore my DW5600E and GW-M5600 in the Sauna. No problem, except for strange looks...

Mine sees a lot of usage, its my go to work watch.

I just took the DW6600 out of the freezer.
Ill let the pics speak for them selves:

Over 24 hours in an ice block has had one negative effect on the watch:
It is now 5 seconds slower than before it went into the freezer!

The only thing I'd be afraid of in the sauna is the metal case back getting hot and hurting?   Or am I over-worrying now? :P

If the caseback has contact to the skin all the time, it heats together with the skin and is no problem. You should not take the watch off and put it back on inside the sauna, though.

I´ll send out a pink DW-9000 clone ASAP.

bmot, i am regular saunoja. Lowtech is right. When metal of your watch or jewellery is constantly to your skin, metal does not get too hot. But when something like silver necklace hangs freely, it gets burning hot when touching skin. But when sauna is hot enough,  it depends on size of your jewellery, or watch, if it will burn you. Newer a watch has burned me. Rather necklace or wrist jewellery has made some feelings.

I will post picture of my watch, and jewellery i have allways on me a bit later here...

I went to sauna's a few times with my (now ex-)gf, she always was very meticulous about taking off jewelry, that's why I asked  :tu:

I wore a silver pandant on aleather cord on my neck for years - And I can tell you it was no fun when you leaned forward, unaware it would heat up, and then leaned back again...

Any way to shock this watch? Do you have a stun gun or access to one?
How about vibration test, though I can't think of how.  Do you have a fishing line that you can attach the watch to and sink to any great depth?

Dont you hate when you are cooking and accidentally drop your wactch into boiling water for 60sec?

Mmmmm boiled g-shock

Anyway. I got it out, and...

...Its still running!
However when I put it under cold water it fogged up on the inside:

But the fog soon disapeared.

Either the watch is no longer waterresistant or the air on the inside was already moist and fogged up because of the temperature change. Ill have to investigate that further.

Also the light button is now slightly discolored, but everything works.

It is a rather common problem that G-Shocks will fog up when rapid temp changes occur - I have read about ones doing so when worn while biking in winter.
Over time, water molecules will dissipate into the watch and may condense on the crystal when themperatzure changes quickly. And when the battery change was not done under controlled conditions (regarding humidity) rather moist air might be present inside anyways - That would be my fault as I did the last battery change.

BTW: Did the clone show up so you can repeat the tests on that one, too?

That would explain it.
The clone has not arrived yet. Mail is generally slow theese days.
I will repeat the tests with the clone when I get it.

Blast it with a pressure washer? Drop kick it as far as you can on a hard surface... Car park? Bowl underarm to a bloke with a cricket bat? Give it to a dog that chews the bejasus out of everything.

I am sure you will find a million ways to destroy it if you want to. I guess the plan is to take it as close to the edge as possible to find out how much it can take without being destroyed.

Smashing an object into a wall or to the floor will create an impact of many G´s, quite a few more than needed to destroy a watch usually. But a G-shock will usually take more than the arm it´s strapped to.

 I dropped my GD350 from about 10 Meters and the LED stopped working...

Now its in for a service

:( Just found out the module needed replacing... which would cost more than half what i paid for it.

I'm still going to get another G to replace this though.

No warranty on this huh?  I guess it makes sense they wouldn't.   Sorry to hear about your watch.   I've banged up my watches pretty good and so far non have failed.  I took a fall and slammed my wrist against a concrete wall and other than scratches no issues.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this thread so far. I do wonder how CASIO can offer such a quality timepiece for such affordable prices (IMO, compared to competitors). I just recently treated my DW6900 to a fresh battery since I use the light a lot. I've owned it over 2 years and keep going back to it. It's my favorite digital watch.

So while you're putting her through the ringer, have you considered shooting it with a BB-gun? Or cranking it up in a vice? I'd sure like to see the results!
