Olight i3 EOS

I might get one of these: http://olightworld.com/product/i3-eos/

Any thoughts/experiences?
They seem to have changed slightly - including name change.

I have one, which I have not really used.

It feels solid and the modes are well spaced out and regulated.
Nice, floody, beam.
There is a hidden flashing mode that is a bit diffcult to get quickly.

Reasonably bright, with a good compromise between brightness and operating time.

You should be able to get one for under $20.

Do you have the R5 or G2?

I've had one in my pocket everyday for about 6 months.  Mine's the G2 version.  Personally, I wish it went medium-low-high (instead of medium-high-low) as medium is bright enough for most edc uses, and the low is a sub-lumen moonlight mode.  Highly recommended for everyday use.

What's the difference between the two?
I see the R5 goes Lo > Mid > Hi > Fast strobe

G2 is the latest version of the Cree XP-G family.

http://flashlightwiki.com/Cree#XP-G2

R5 is the bin number, which, simply, shows how efficient it is.

"Cree bins individual models of LED on the basis of total flux or light output, typically measured at 350mA. Bin numbers might be P4, Q2, Q3, Q4, Q5, R2, R3, R4, and R5 with each bin being about 5% additional flux. The P4 is 80 lumens, a Q5 would be 107 lumens, and the R5 bins are 137 lumens."

The higher the BIN the more expensive and more "premium" the version is.

R5 is the top bin, thus it is the one to have. Lower bins will be found in cheaper products.

Note that checking what Bin you have is not easy.

I have one and love it and will be getting another soon.  It fits perfectly in the side tube of my skinth and has a great feel.  I don't mind the modes M-H-L and really like the Low or moon light on this little guy.  I've had no issues and run Eneloop's in it.

I believe I have the G2 version and this thing is plenty bright on all modes.  The High is more than enough for taking out the trash and Medium handles most everything else.

I don't know many folks who don't like the i3.  One that I've just picked up and is very similar to the i3 is the Thrunite Ti3.

Although I haven't had anything similar to compare it to and I am yet to really test it, so far I am very happy with it.  :)

I got one from Ebay, same blue colour, cost about AU$28. (G2 as well I think)

Not bad, prefer if it went L-M-H.  Keep it on my bedside table.  Currently EDC the Fenix E05 2014, but have sometimes coupled the Olight with a blue Squirt PS4

I'm starting to prefer the MLH sequence for keychain and EDC. I used to search for LMH but in use the only time I need it to start in low is with my night stand flashlight. In actual outside use, a decent mid mode as the first one is much more useful. :tu:

I can imagine L-M-H coming in handy when camping and you don't want to wake others in the middle of the night.
Other than that I think I too would prefer M-L-H.

It seems the blue is popular - it's a nice colour and I wanted something more visible than black in low light.
