The new adventures of Little Boy. (Army edition)
on: November 16, 2014, 12:02:05 PM
So I got a little something in the mail today. You all know him as Little Boy or by his Indian name "He Who Hide In Snow"

What is Little Boy doing in sunny in Afghanistan you ask? Well it seems and I am paraphrasing here but from what I can gather it goes something like this. "Smurf Minnesota, that smurfing place is smurfing cold as smurf......" It goes on like that for a while but you get the gist of it.

Now that he is here though it was time to go to work. No slack in the Army my friend.

Hmm ok so an electrical socket and the clamp that holds the power line to the wall. Yawn Little Boy says not even a challenge, is this all you got? Before you ask yes I turned off the generator before I messed with it any further.

So what the heck are you up to Little Boy? Glad you asked, be patient and all will be revealed. Everything tucked out of the way and it is time to break out the sawzall. I suppose we could cut it out with LB's saw but well no.

A little carpentry work and the jobs a good one.

Will post up some pictures once we man the tower but imagine a machine gun sticking through the window and you get the idea of what we was up to. Convert what use to be a container room into a bunker.

Initial thoughts on Little Boy. Short version it is everything I thought it would be. Great tool.

This thing is so compact in both weight and size. Much thinner then my Wave and you can tell the weight difference for sure. Also I am loving the reach on the drivers and having only used them so far will leave it at that for now.

Was very surprised about how god the condition of Little Boy was. If you would have told me it had sat in a snow bank for most of a winter I would not have believed you. Very happy with the black oxide coating and expect it to remain rust free for pretty much ever.

Anyhow the plan is to use Little Boy as my sole tool/knife for a while much like one of Joel's much better reviews.
Seeing how he is not a big fan of the cold I will give him the month of December off though and maybe carry a Skeletool or something. Not to worry he will be back hard at work come the new year.

Solving problems you didn't know you had in the most obscure way possible

"And now, it's time to hand this over to our tame race axe driver. Some say, he can live in the forest for six months at a time without food, and he knows of a secret tribe of only women where he is their God. All we know is, he's call the Styx!" - TazzieRob

Basking in the warmth of the sun after a successful first day on the job here in beautiful Afghanistan.

Building a floor and deck for the new MWR tomorrow so I am sure we will see more of Private Little Boy.

Little Boy escaped to someplace warm! Woot!

Keep us up to date on how he likes the sandbox.

And stay safe. There are giant killer spiders there the size of camels. I mean... right? That's why they're called Camel Spiders. Right? :D

Don't you be disrespecting the camel spiders. They make awesome mascots. I have no idea where the idea they are giant and eat people/camels comes from.

Now if you are someone who is scared of spiders I suppose they would be not so bueno. About a half foot or so wide and they got angry looking pincers that hurt if they bite you. Don't ask me how I know.

So it seems Little Boy is bucking for promotion already. Was not a whole lot for him to do since it was a carpentry day. Instead of his usual hands on (maybe that should read pliers on?) approach he took on the role of leader in a effort to keep these Privates hard at work.

Here we find Little Boy keeping a close eye on on the progress of things.

I come back from the TOC a couple of hours later to find these shenanigans going on?!

Maybe it is best if you stick with what you know Little Boy.

I'm so glad little boy is being a good worker for you.

Talk about going to one extreme to another
Frozen Minnesota to the font line in Afghanistan .

I'm so happy I sold him to you. I thought I would regret it.

Kick ass review so far Man :tu:

Ok before we get to far into this some Army education is in order.

When it comes to supplies in the Army you don't just say I got half or my water or ammo left you use a color system. Why you ask? No smurfing idea to tell the whole truth.

How it works is if you have all of whatever you are talking about you say I am green on say fuel. If you got less then 100% but more then half you say I am yellow. if you are almost out but still have a little you say you are red, also known as not bueno. Well if you are completely out of whatever that is more not bueno and we call that being black.

Now that you know how it works let me tell you about the day Little Boy had and how he pretty much single handed saved Afghanistan.

Here at TB Dwyer we were Black on a mission critical supply. Looked high and low but nowhere on the base could any of this supply be found. Then I remembered there was a small cache in an old supply closet attached to the TOC. Little Boy and I arrive and find this.

Oh noes Little Boy what ever will we do? Wait what is this, some dumb smurf put the hasp with the screws on the outside?

Little Boy to the recuse we are saved!

Dang I almost forgot to post a picture of the mission critical supplies. Another job well done by Little Boy.

Being that I was a D&D nerd before I was in the military, I took to calling Cokes "Potions of Temporary Sustenance".

And yes, they are mission critical.

Also... HOLY SMURF!!!! A PULL TAB!!!  :o
That's like seeing an 8-track cassette.

Keep up the good work, Little Boy. You're sure to get a distinguished service ribbon with oakleaf clusters.

Instead of his usual hands on (maybe that should read pliers on?) approach he took on the role of leader in a effort to keep these Privates hard at work.
