Gerber mp600 bladeless
on: November 16, 2014, 04:08:38 PM
Hello all

My search for a UK legal multitool for every day carry brought me here among other places. I have to commend you on being a wonderful source of research and info !!

As you may be aware, UK legislation requires anyone carrying a locking blade to have a reason or excuse. So, TECHNICALLY carrying a multitool with locking blade could leave you open to having to prove a good reason etc - fine if on way to hunting, fishing or camping but at night on way to the pub ??

So, I decided to play it safe by looking for a bladeless tool so I can carry 24/7 with no need to prove myself. As luck would have it, Gerber have done just this in their MP600 bladeless model designed for workplaces in USA with a no knife policy.

I managed to get one despite the crazy decision by UK Gerber authorised importers not to bother importing this model !

If anybody is interested and its within the forum rules, feel free to contact me for more details.

Welcome to the forum Breacher  :tu:
Would you like to introduce yourself in the new members section.

Back to topic......

EEK £80 quid!!! (£85 inc' postage )
That's outrageous, they were selling in Walmart in the US for $45, that's roughly £28!! That seller wants more than the Pro Scout.

I'll bide my time.
In fact I'd rather tip a US member $20 to grab me one than be ripped off like that.
But, thanks all the same for the heads up, just too expensive for me.

I contacted him direct via his Hotmail. Offered him less based on him saving ebay fees and paypal fees if I sent a "gift".

Got it for a lot less  :tu:

He has a few photos up which are a good representation.

The black oxide finish is nice.

If you don't mind me asking, How much less??
Paying Gift means I'd have no paypal protection, I'd rather pay the paypal fees and have piece of mind.

That couch looks familiar.

Weren't you selling Black Oxide Leatherman PSTs last year? On gumtree or something like that?

And I'm guessing those are your listings, not of some random ebay seller.

Links to your own ebay auctions are not allowed here. You can list them for sale in our for sale forum or on our own auction site edcsource.com.

No one is being nasty.

Look at it from our side. A newbies first post is a link to the latest Gerber mp600 that's not currently yet available here in the UK. Until I posted it was way over priced, you never mentioned anything about being able to get a big discount if we contacted the seller via email and paid "gift". Meaning you were quite happy for MT'o members to get ripped off!! - that's nice  :tu:

I and I'm pretty certain all other members here will resent this forum being labelled nasty, this forum is probably the friendliest forum you'll ever come across.

Personally  I think you may have misjudged us.
I don't claim to know it all, but what I do know is right.

I only say that the listing is yours.

The couch/footstool question was just a guess as I've seen similar backdrops before from a UK seller.

As for this being your auction...

Your photobucket account, theshootist. ebay sellers email, theshootist. Your first posts, links to the auction.

Not too hard to make the connection I guess. ;)

Quite!
I note Breacher has removed his earlier post where he branded us nasty! I also note he still has all 5 available in his eBay listing . I doubt very much he'll sell them at that price.

Pity, because if he hadn't been so greedy he could have shifted the lot easily.
I don't claim to know it all, but what I do know is right.
