Gene-Yus!

I like to think that I'm pretty smart. I mean, in school, I tested well, and in real life, I often see problems long before other folks do. But that keen perception isn't exactly bulletproof.

After we moved, I found an old tool in my junk drawer, and unable to withstand the lure of old tools, decided to use it to open a bottle of beer. It has a folding bit with a Church Key kind of punch, and a cap lifter behind it...

I tried for a bit, but try as I might, that cap lifter wouldn't catch the lip of the cap. Utter fail, what a piece of...

Hmmm... maybe I'm missing something here...  Something OBVIOUS...

Yeah. It worked great. It was that twenty seconds of fail that I thought was hilarious in retrospect.

The only problem I have now is... if that thing behind the Church Key punch isn't a cap lifter... what the smurf IS it?

Any other great stories of brain-fail out there?

Think they somehow work as a lever for corkscrew.

You may be right.

EDIT: I'd never consider such things, because all of my wine is the high quality twist-off cap variety.

Then you will never drink vine, that has gone bad because of cork failing.

Now you have very good reason to get bottle (or severel preferred) of vine that has real cork corks.

Doh! Yeah, that is an aid for the corkscrew.

It's used to make a triangular hole in juice cans. Make two holes, opposite eachother and you get the juice out smoothly.

At least that's what I remember from similar looking tools.
