Nomad - DD Grip
on: November 24, 2014, 06:59:07 AM
Hi there,

Does anyone have comments or insight into the 2-layer 111mm Nomad, particularly in the new red dual density grip series?

I have a trailmaster/trekker that I use a LOT while camping and never noticed its fatness till I got the Danish Army adventurer the other day.
This got me thinking that a simple "Spartan" toolset in 111mm may be a good minimalist EDC option for me; I can carry it in conjunction with a huntsman when camping for food, biltong, wine and beer tasks ;)

I'll probably get it along with a Soldier 08 and the new black/red Pioneer this week.
For someone who likes the Spartan, this seems to add some locking practicality for harder use?

I like mine but it's not OH or DD. Cool minimalist field knife and the liner lock is very secure!

Bought it to match my Forester...

I like a saw but that Nomad is growing on me, wish I had a couple more of them.

I can get either the black Nomad like yours or the red dual density version.
Both are not one hand opening.

I am thinking red dual density grip model as I do not own any of these at this point.
It will go nicely with a green dual density Soldier08 and maybe an orange hunter XT later on.

I really like the weight and slim feel of the Adventurer as well as the tougher liner lock and locking opener of the trekker/trailmaster.

Glad you appreciate it, there is something to be said for simple functional knives.

I see I'm too late to influence the decision, but as an owner of both standard and DD 111 mm knives, I find the DD to be a bit grippier, although I never felt the grip lacking with the basic textured nylon.

I got it today, I enjoyed carrying it in my pocket all day but can comment further than one days use right now.

Lockup is not like my old Trailmaster, slight play on both the blade and the locking cap lifter. So slight I dont mind.

It is slim and light, a dream to carry and quite a bit lighter in the pocket than the trakker/trailmaster.
Not as light and smooth as the Adventurer

The thickness is the main advantage, those carrying Spartans will gain some heavier use capability while losing T&T and small blade.
Scoring on the locking griver/cap lifter. This is a great tool.
