One of a series

If you are looking at buying only one knife from a limited edition range due to budget. Do you think it makes more sense to buy the first of a series or what is currently most rare/expensive.
I'm starting to develop an expensive taste for the exotic. In the short term its about enjoying the collection, maybe trading a little along the way, but long term these will be handed down to my son.

Personally. I tend to look into what catches my eye and I definately seek for quality. It's the use I'll get out of anything that defines whether it was cheap or expensive, in the end. I tend to be skeptic about the benefits of exotic steels. As for first runs, honestly I have no idea but I wouldn't be surprised if they were overpriced - for my taste. Patience can be a rewarding virtue. Hope that helps.

Get the one that speaks to you most and will give you the most enjoyment. Unless you're only in it for the collection, then go rarest first.
