Those kits are thought of as gifts - You gift them and teh recipient takes them to the VIC shop and assembles his very own Spartan.
If you assemble a Spartan in the Shop (at least here in cologne) they take parts out of the drawers.
The blade in the kits is not marked, afaik. Must have to do with different warranty regulations/laws across the earth.
The Spartan is of course still made.
The Kits are available for 29,- € here, IIRC and do amke a nice gift for any SAK collector, although I doubt they would most likely not put it together.
You are not allowed to build other knives than the Spartan in the Shops. Maybe, if the clerk is in the right mood and not many customers around, I will have the chance to build a different 2-layer SAK on the machine, if I bring parts and don´t tell anyone. I think I´ll have to further establish my status as aregular customer there. I did help a few customers and even initiated a sale there, though...
