William Rodgers Sheath Knife

This was my first fixed blade knife. My dad gave me this on my 8th birthday and was purchased in a knife shop In Glasgow, Scotland.  I can still remember how excited I was riding in the car on the way into Glasgow with my brother and dad. My brother also has one similar to it although I'm not sure if it's a William Rodgers or not.
Our family immigrated to the US not long after in 1975.

Must start a thread showing a photo of at least eight BO tools Start a new thread and post a picture of fire making kit or fire with a multitool Start a new thread with a photo of a modded knife or multitool with your EDC Must post a step by step pictorial of a knife or multitool modification (scale swap not included) Participate in a challenge by carrying  a Leatherman Pulse or ST200 and post a photo of it  for thirty (30) consecutive days. That's a great looking blade to have, especially with such history to you. :tu:

Nice one mate  :tu: I do like the old Sheffield pattern scout knives, though I must confess I've never actually bought one  :-[  The construction today is almost identical though, albeit with possibly a thinner piece of brass for the guard. They're now made by John Newill/Jack Adams (different brands from the same cutlers), and possibly one or two others unless tyhey're all seeling one maker's gear (entirely possible). I'd say you got yours when there was maybe a bit more pride taken by the makers than there is now though ;) There are still some great knives made in Sheffield, but the ones ones I've had from Newill/Adams have been "agricultural" at best

Nice knife with a great history, and thanks for sharing. :cheers:  After so many years and use, the handle and sheath still looks intact, good craftsmanship on the maker part.  :tu:

I have a similar/identical looking one, but as it has been lost (in the house) for about 20 years I have no idea of the brand on it.

The one I have (in theory, if I can find it) should be from the 1940s.

Thanks !   I think i need to spend some time and clean it up a bit as its been sitting in a drawer for quite a few years now. Any tips on what method to use to clean up the handle a bit and maybe polish the blade ?
