The wood is She Oak. it doesn't show up very well in these photos but is has a really nice grain with some very bold figure in it.
I'll take some pics in better lighting with a real camera after I get several more coats of oil on it.
Unfortunately this was my last piece but I do have some even better looking species lurking in my wood box.

haha, love the idea of my own personal WK stamp ::)  but that would be just a little too cheeky methinks.

and extra points to anybody who noticed that the scales on this one are "bookmatched" with the grain on each side being a mirror image.

Im trying to picture what those old ones would look like dressed in custom alox scales.  Would be a pain to make but for sure unique.

Would probably be better using one of the Inox ones with Aluminium scales. Not sure how the carbon steel would react.
A couple of these are stainless steel. There is a Elsener Schwyz stamped INOXYD and another that has a Wengerinox stamp. Unfortunately that one has a broken backspring on the driver/opener layer.

I do have one in pieces at the moment, just measured the blade backspring. It's 3.4mm thick.

Maybe go for the simple cross circle stamp just showing a repair  :)

There are all kinds of things that could be done.  BOing would be easy since they aren't stainless parts.

I was just trying to picture what black alox with polished brass accent parts would look like.  Those old tools look so vicious.  The can opener looks like some sort of medieval disemboweling device.

Have past mods to this frame size just been to restore as is, or have people done anything crazy tool wise?

Right! I forgot that model was in both carbon and inox.  I guess the best 'warm' look would be brass but that would add alot of weight.

Currently giving an undated Elsener Schwyz  INOXYD one with worn but uncracked scales some pocket time.

Okay, just a teaser. not completed this one yet, it's a special little knife as it's like an early "Farmer" so I used the last of my Red Mallee burl on it.
more/better pic's when it's complete.

Damn I'm good.
Saw layer replacement spring made from Florist's knife backspring. Fully functional and it fits in without looking out of place.

so, a little more final polishing and that's two out of the five commission pieces done
