Bought a new headlamp, but do I like it?

I received a $25 gift card for Canadian Tire for Christmas, so I picked up an Energizer Hardcase Pro 4 LED Headlight. I'm not sure if I like it or not though.

It has half decent output, and a high or low mode, along with red or green lights. It also takes AA batteries, which is a plus to me, and it has a band that goes over the head.

I might return it and get a Coast HL7. I was able to try it in store, and I really like the adjuster for light output, and you can also adjust the beam from flood to spot. This one takes AAA though, and doesn't have the band that goes over your head.

So I don't know what I should do. I mainly want one for working on the Jeep, as I'm tired of trying to hold a light and work at the same time.

I recently delved into this headlight conundrum as well. I got the Energizer Industrial Single band. No red or green, I hate clicking through modes in a hurry. Especially bent under a truck and covered in tranny fluid.

I like it so far, if it breaks or I lose it. No big deal.

They had those ones as well, and I thought about them, but wanted something a bit brighter. The one I got has two buttons. One for the normal light, and one for the red and green. For the normal light, the first click turns it on high, the second is low and the third is off.

I like Coast products, not many of the flashlight folk do though.

I just tried it outside, and I must say I'm pretty impressed!

With the flip up diffuser in the down position, the light would easily shine on houses that are pretty far away. The diffuser also gives it a pretty nice flood, and the light is nice and even.

It's pretty comfortable to wear also, so I think I'll be keeping this one. I might someday see if I can trade some of my gear here and get a better headlamp, but for now, this should do what I want it to.

I had one like that as my first headtorch. It was very irritating in its brief life before it died.

I've got a knockoff version of that which looks identical except says LED Headlight on the band. $8 from evilBay. Have compared it to a genuine one a co-worker has and light output is just as good.
