I have a night stand but I keep a tackle box on it.

I use this instead, like a "daily shelf"

It's anything I need for a daily task, I need to put away? Or things that should be in my pocket. It's right below my light switch so I can always see whatever I should have before I leave my man cave. (Room)

Also; picture of man cave. (I like green)

I don't seem to read a lot nowadays (since I discovered MTo  ::) )
But
Looks like I would enjoy Snow crash
I've read Dune (and the others that came after)
I've read some Iain M Banks
Not sure what the other two are

Cool!

I love Dune and have given away so many copies my daughter bought it for me again because I missed it!

The other two are the new William Gibson, who 'Snow Crash' is very influenced by, and 'Wildwood' by Roger Deakin, which is a great book about trees, but sadly has no Robots, lasers or spaceships in it.

It is hard to find time to read AND do MTo so I go to the toilet a lot

Any Axes

 :D

Nowadays I tend to buy my books at the charity shop, I often see something that I've read before and think I will read that one again,
When I get a box full they go back to the shop

Peeing and reading I will have to give that a try

No axes I'm afraid - more of a tree hugging than a tree felling book!

Which Iain Banks have you read?

Also, have you read ALL the Dune books?

I love the first 3 and then I can't get into the 4th, I've tried so many times.
As a fan of Larry David (and being the only male in an otherwise female household) I pee sitting down which gives me lots of reading opportunities.

TMI?

Charity shops are my favourite shops! You never know what you'll find.

The craftsman box was actually a binge buy.

The guy had 2 of them since like 1984 or something and was selling the better condition.

Picked it up for 20 bucks, it even has the tray!

I use the drawers too, bottom for pills and first aid

Top for my collection of stickers that will one day be on my actual toolbox.

$20 cool, The tray is always the first thing that they loose  :tu:

My memory is terrible. I will buy a book and half way through realize I've read it before
So I can't remember which ones I have read

You have me googling Frank Herbert now
Dune. Dune Messiah. Children of Dune. God Emperor of Dune. Heretics of Dune. Chapterhouse: Dune

which reminded me I read and liked The Dosadi Experiment by him (and the others in this set)

What is TMI?

Too Much Information. As in, everyone probably doesn't want/need to know that much about my toilet habits.......

I'm going to have to try again with the 4th Dune book - it really is a brilliant story.

I know what you mean by being forgetful. I picked up a Stewart Lee DVD in a charity shop the other day and just before I paid for it my daughter pointed out I already have it.

Have you read 'Diamond Age' too? That's another good one.

I've tried several times to start 'The Baroque Cycle', but just can't seem to get into it.

Great writer though.  :tu:

With the Baroque Cycle its the same for me, never made it through Quicksilver.

Yes to Diamond Age another great book.
I love "Diamond Age" & "Snow Crash" because they are so fully packed with original ideas and have a rich and detailed world. I think that is kinda missing from his other works.

Yup, totally agree. I really persevered with Quicksilver but it just wasn't happening.

Have you read William Gibson too because he's along the same lines except, dare I say, even better?

Of course I did. Gibson broke ground for the whole Cyberpunk Genre :tu:.
Although, I remain at my statement that Snow Crash is the best, closely followed by Diamond Age :D

My wife bought me tickets to see William Gibson just before Christmas - He signed his new book for me and I also got him to sign 'All Tomorrow's Parties' which is my favourite, and 'Pattern Recognition' which is my wife's.   :ahhh

I am re-reading Snow Crash for about the fifth time - still brilliant!
