I've got to do it...

It may mean re-doing the 1908 Solo with Blade and Driver rather than Blade/Awl but that is a sacrifice I'm willing to make. (actually blade/driver would be more useful)

It would be cool, and why not! Those old awl just look cool, but maybe its because Im used to looking at the modern ones all the time.

Is the pivot hump the same shape?

I've got the stump of a snapped alox awl and overlaying it on the 1908 awl there is spare meat all around so a little filing and fitting and it should work nicely.

These are a spare set of scales. I have a pioneer or an electrician that i can pull apart.
A long awl Electrician sounds good.

Wasnt it the long awl farmer that was the ultra rare one? I think Id go electro-farmer. Electrician plus metal saw with that cool awl.

Hmm. I like the name Electrofarmer better than Electrician plus. Actually I have a OC Elinox Electrician plus... nah, I'm not cutting that up. Pity I only have one OC Electrician. I think this awl would look better on an OC knife.

BTW - PTR - It looks like you made the cut out for the awl without taking the aloz apart (the pins on the left are intact) - was that the case? If so how?

Actually this is just the scale, not the whole knife.
There are no pins in the other two holes. But yes, that would have been a trick.

Hopefully it will be a complete knife later tonight.

while I was in a silly mood I gave it a coat of poor mans anodize too

that's the real thing (1950's pioneer) in the foreground while the pretender lurks in the distance

engraving plate and new shield are immediate give aways.

Not as nice a fit as those crafty Swiss manage, but it looks okay for a Q&D job

A real home run there. Hit it with some candy apple red nail polish, it will wear out on the surface leaving you with a nice checker red color.

Super sweet mod! I wouldn't be surprised if you get a few requests. Too bad the long awls are a bit hard to come by.
