New Moras
Reply #60 on: February 21, 2015, 05:37:01 PM
So I knew that sooner or later I would get a Mora Bushcraft Black. I figured it would be later, waiting for it to appear on sale somewhere.
But on thursday I googled it looking for a discount, and found a strange little webshop that only sold one product. The Mora Bushcraft black. Not only was it the only product in their store, it was also $18 cheaper than the cheapest competitor including shipping.
The internet clearly wanted me to own a Mora Bushcraft black, so I bought one, and it arrived today. :D
Pics will come later.
Heres a link to the shop. I have no idea what kind of internatinal shipping prices they use. But for our Norwegian members its a bargain at 250NOK + shipping. (Shipping was 10NOK when I bought it)

I kind of see why the bushcraft black is so much pricier than other moras. Firstly, it came in a blister pack.

I have only seen one other Mora in a blister pack before, and that was a classic.
The bushcraft also came with two interchangable belt clips.
Its also bigger and heavier than most other Moras.
Here are some comparison pics to some other carbon steel Moras I have. (I think I have too many Moras, I have a bunch of Stainless ones too...)

From left to right: Classic, 510 (just got it), 511, Pro Robust, Buschcraft black.

The sheath of the bushcraft black is also made from a slightly softer and grippier plastic and the knife fits better.

Yes. I used it on sunday. I did some light batoning, whittling and testing a firesteel.
It worked well. :tu:

My latest laminated Mora.  It was listed as a Classic #1 but was actually an older Classic #2...it was unused and $25.00 shipped!

Compared to one of my other Classic Laminated #2's bought in 2013 (bottom) this one has the wider/longer blade profile of earlier Moras.

Here's my Frost's Mora #2 from the 80's (top) with the fuller/longer style blade.

Thank you Grathr!! :salute:

It's hard to find the laminated ones new at reasonable prices since nearly all the models are discontinued.

Very nice mate.  Mind if I ask where the leather sheath in the wrapper came from?  And do they do a left handed version? :)

Thanks guys!!!

It's a sheath from Sharpshooter Sheath Systems...they are on the bay or other online sellers...very nice quality and fits lots of Moras very nicely. Was looking some "bushcrafty" style sheaths and I'm very happy with these.  Those in the pkgs are a Lg (4") and a Med (3") Universal Pouch. One pkg says "right hand" so maybe it comes in left also?

Thanks Grathr! I've wanted one of these for years...Think it's called the Forest Knife but I can't find much info on it. They are discontinued and this one, being marked Frosts, been discontinued for a while.

Looking for more info....

1st pic!

Looks unused, like it just sat in a drawer for 20 years. Still has the factory edge. Couple of surface spots from sheath contact.
