Is the rivets for the plier springs. They always look scruffy and not finished properly and don't offer any confidence in their strength. The Waves rivets always look much neater.

I completely agree. I had a few Rebars that looked exactly the same.

Should be pretty easy to finish it but i'm not sure if that would somehow void the warranty.   I guess if it is done properly they probably would not be able to tell.

Just checked the inside of my BO Rebar, it looks much nicer than the above pic, like my wave and supertool 300.

Here are the rivets on my Rebar, a little rough but look too bad. I wouldn't think there would be a lot of force put on the rivet anyway.

First of all, this was back in 2012, when I bought my first Rebar.

When the rivet broke I went back to the store and got another one, when I got home I noticed that, in the closed position, the handles were way of, one of them sticked out  above the other (about 3 or 4 mm), and even when opened it didn't feel right.   So I called the shop to explain this problem and they told me I could come back monday to get yet another one.

So back in the store, I checked about 7 of them and I noticed that the rivets were very iffy on at least half of them, I also noticed that on one of them the pliers didn't close all the way, because the replaceable cutters didn't line up.  On two of them, the plierhead scrapped against the phillips when I closed the tool, leaving both plierhead and phillips pretty scarred ... so I decided to spend some extra cash and buy myself a Wave (I checked like 4 or 5 of them at the shop and they were all perfect).

A years later I caved and bought myself another Rebar, which was perfect (and still is  :D), and the BO Rebar I got last month also was perfect, rivets looking much better than on the first batch I checked back in 2012.

Mine looked the same, as if the rivets weren't peened all the way so I finished the peening with a punch and hammer.  I didnt bill Leatherman for the work that I did to finish their job though.

Hummm...I do wonder if this is a manufacturing issue that LM have sorted out?  Can we tell if the ones with dodgy rivets are earlier than the ones with the better rivets?

I had checked out two and got the better one. Was surprised too how unsecure the rivets looked.

Another thing I don't like about the Rebar is it does not have a wood/diamond file instead of the metal/wood version. The metal files don't really seem to stand up like a diamond coasted file does.

Really ??? I have to say all my metal/wood files are still like new whilst my diamond coated files all wear down very fast. Maybe I go a bit hard in the daimond ones?

I don't have any pics, but the rivets in mine seem to look much better than that.  I bought my Rebar about a year and a half ago and have carried it ever since.  I use the hell out of it, it's aging nicely.  The only things I don't like are the file and saw.  I would trade the saw for scissors, and the file is a tad too sharp to actually file anything.  Being a machinist I am rather picky about files though.  The file on my blast is much better for what these files are intended to do.  I think I might take a stone to my rebar file, that should fix it.

The rebar is a great concept but (allot) of room for improvement.
1 I had the same problem as you.
2 bad quality such as rattling back lock.
3 bad designed saw and file, they could have used the blast file and saw. Stronger and longer and doesn't have those annoying cut outs.
4 knives where to thin.
5 the v shaped edge in the begin of the tools on the out side to accommodate the back lock.
Overall I think the blast was better.

My saw broke. I think that of there was not a hole in it out wouldn't have broken
