Anything to do with the boat motor company?
Quote from: Higgins617 on January 25, 2015, 12:23:53 AMAnything to do with the boat motor company?Possible, but not likely. The Elgin tool company was located in Illinois. Elgin boats were sold by Sears Roebuck based in Chicago. The Elgin tool was patented in 1896. I believe the boat kits were sold in the 40's and 50's?
Here's mine: (photo looks like two different tools, but it is actually top and bottom views of the same tool)(Image removed from quote.)Interesting info you posted there Lyndon about there being "at least 4 to 6 handle versions and at least 2 or 3 manufacturers". I did not realize that. Do you have any further details about the different manufacturers?
What does an alligator wrench have in common with a holder for threading dies ?What am I missing here?
Quote from: toolguy on March 10, 2015, 04:52:09 PMWhat does an alligator wrench have in common with a holder for threading dies ?What am I missing here? No, I don't think you are missing anything. The combination is unusual. The tool isn't just a die holder. It is used to cut threads.
