Who Owns a Buck 119 Special?
on: January 24, 2015, 03:10:17 AM
The Buck 110 thread made me think of this subject. I noted in that thread as owning a NIB 119 that my wife bought me and I didn't want to use it for sentimental reasons. I found a pre-owned 119 at a gunshow a week or so ago and bought it to carry on weekends and for yard work, etc. Who else likes these old time standard hunting knives? Post your pictures if you wish.  tom.

As an aside I also have a 426 to carry while my NIB 110 resides in the safe along with the 119. tom.

I remember having some pictures that show a guy putting it to the test. If y'all want I can put 'em up

Cool!

My dad hunted with one for years till the fire took it, I recovered the blade and meant to do something with it but never did. He cleaned a lot of deer with it over the years. Maybe it can be re-tempered and re-handled.

I picked one up a while ago. I haven't used it yet, but it is such a classic knife I just had to add it to the collection.

I'm guessing now but I'd bet you use that Special a bunch up in the great white north. tom.

I'd love to read a follow up on that blade restoration. tom.

I can understand that. Nobody  has to use a knife to like it. I've got some that I will never use but they sure feel good in the hand. tom.  :tu:

Well I took the Special out for a walk this weekend and it felt fine on my hip.  I can't believe how much I like this model. tom.  :D

I purchased a 119 simply because it was an inexpensive classic -  takes and holds an edge fairly well and a better than average sheath for the price, but watch out for the phenol resin handle  - slippery when dry and impossible when wet. Plus a rather fragile tip to the blade !
