Paratool question
on: January 31, 2015, 06:29:23 PM
I bought a new Paratool about a month ago and have been carrying it ever since. The handle on the thumb tab side doesn't snap into place like the other side does and hasn't from day one. I tried tightening the screws but that only made a slight difference.

Today I think a spotted the cause. The circled corner is not bent like the other three. Is this by design?

I do not know about the snapping issue but, yes, this is how they are.

Here is a quick picture of one I have

In my experience there's often a variation in how Paratool handles snap into position. With a little judicious dremeling or filing you can adjust the fit so they are more equal. Tightening the bolts will make a minor change, but you need to abrade a little off of the tight side plier ramp.........or return it under warranty. I'd go for the dremel myself.

Amici,
Paratools can be pretty much a hit or miss depending when you purchased them. I purchased mine in...... 1995 I believe when it was made in the USA and I notice on the rear of the handles where the pliers head meets, that there are two "divits" or dents that were made when the handles were originally cast. It does nothing negative and not even ugly to look at but they're there..  How ironic since I used the tool today securing parking space placards to a wire fence using the big "P" in all it's folding pliers head glory...

Cheers,
Serge
