back light fell off
on: February 04, 2015, 07:08:35 PM
This morning whilst cycling to work (6:30ish) I noticed the cars giving me an unusually wide berth...strange I thought?? I always keep as close to the kerb as possible. 2 cars passed in succession virtually driving on the wrong side as they passed, next up a Warrior style pick up passed unbelievably close

When I got to work it became apparent - my rear light was missing!! It must have fallen off unbeknownst too me. Pretty sobering thinking about it.

Has this happened to anyone else??

I'm just about to pop out and buy a replacement for tomorrow. Pains me as local shops will charge a small fortune for the same light that can be bought off Amazon for a fraction of the cost.

Way to go Amazon.
I don't claim to know it all, but what I do know is right.

Yep me too sadly :(

I've lost a good one that way before I started putting small lanyards on my light :)

I also have two lights at the back and front in case the batteries die on me unawares :)

Reflective strips on your clothing and/or bike are a must.

Or a vest like this.

I have two front and rear lights, plus reflectors, plus hi-vis clothing. I like to make sure I can/will be seen.

Well that's the thing ... despite all those lights, reflectors, and hi-vis ... I still seem to be more visible and less likely to get knocked off whilst sat on my arse in front of a computer with a beer in front of me

How often do these things fall off, and why? Vibrations/bumps loosening them?

Pot holes normally account for most of them I'd imagine :(

You've only got a narrow strip of the road to play with so sometimes you just have to ride straight through big ones :(
