:hatsoff:

Another reminder of why I like this place so much. Thanks for sharing. This is a subject that you could with all legitimacy keep to yourself.

I think I'm not wrong to say this project is a great work of love on your part. The time and money you invested here is too big for me to fathom. It's more than understandable, if you get a good offer, to sell it and have some return for all you put into MTo. The fact that you prefer to keep it as it is says a lot about the relationships this place has created.(*)

I don't know about the rest of the people here but I'm willing to have a few more adds around the site so it can be more "profitable" and make you even more keen on keeping the site.

 :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute:
 :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute:

(*) and probably about your decaying mental capabilities. You're saying no to getting rich and get rid of all the insanity going around here?! It's like Arkham Asylum in here!!!! Sometimes, even I am scared of coming here and that's saying a lot!!

Yes, I could have kept it to myself.  The Mods and Admins were kept up to date as it was happening, but I figured as soon as it ended I'd tell everyone.  At no time did I expect an offer that would be worth my while to sell, and went along with it more for academic reasons.  It's always interesting to see what something is worth, and what someone will pay for it, which as you know can be two very different things!

I am heavily invested in this site, both personally and financially, and to be honest, if I sold it I'd have to walk away from everything.  My multitool collection would probably stop, and while I probably wouldn't sell any, they would probably just sit in a drawer or closet.  I don't think I'd be able to continue, and I would certainly never be able to visit or log in here again.  I'd certainly keep interacting with all of you on Facebook, IM, emails and whatever else might work for you, but that would be about it.  I might consider selling my site, but I'd never consider selling my friends.

Profit is an interesting point- yes, the site needs to make some money to continue on- servers aren't free, and most of the tools I review are not provided by manufacturers as some believe.  I buy almost every tool you see me talk about, and that costs money.  As long as the site's costs (including contest prizes, future projects etc) are covered, I'm happy.  Do I want to make more money?  Heck yes, who wouldn't?  But, I am not looking to make money so I can quit my day job and forum full time- every penny I "make" on this site gets reinvested into the up front costs for the 1,000,000,000 post Eat'n Tools, the Challenge Coins, the anniversary stuff (you don't want to know how much July costs us every year!   :ahhh), the stickers, the shorts, the hats, the patches.... the list goes on.  So, "profit" to me doesn't mean a vacation in Barbados, it means that we can get involved in newer, more interesting projects in the future.

As for you being scared to come here, that's like Groucho saying he wouldn't want to be a member of a club that would have him as a member.  Without you stirring things up, there would be a lot less here to be scared of!  :P

Thanks, Grant for not whoring out this website.  :salute:

If some company bought this site they'd turn into something not worth visiting.

I think you mean "Thanks for not whoring the website cheaply."

I am a whore, and I can be bought.  I am just not a cheap whore!

I do believe that I might go elsewhere if this place was bought by someone else. I do have a passion for all things multi-tool, but I also have to like folks to continue contributing. I like Grant and how he runs this place. I feel under different ownership, it wouldn't be the same. I would possibly become disenfranchised and move on to something else. Like Grant, I would keep up on Facebook because of friendship, but I am certain I wouldn't be doing articles and posting photos on here under a different management.

Yes,  I was surprised by how quick Grant replies if you sent him a message, regarding an issue with the forum or even something irrelevant to the forum. (Try it -Message him ANY time of the night and he will reply!   >:D )

Definitely not the typical multimillionaire forum owner  :salute:

I just found out Grant is keeping this site up just so "they" can gather info on all of us... His moniker was a real giveaway, I don't know how we didn't see that sooner.

A forum I used to be heavily involved with, bit-tech.net, got bought by a friendly company and that was fine. It was then bought by Dennis Publishing who are not a particularly nice bunch of people to put it mildly, and the main site and forum became flooded with adverts and in particular in-line text adverts (Skimlinks and Intellitxt though not at the same time).

The admins had their hands tied, the owners wouldn't listen, loads of the regular faces left and I followed suit.

One of the biggest Land Rover magazines in the UK, Land Rover Monthly, is published by Dennis but I detest them so much I won't buy it out of principle. That said the other magazine (LRO) is better anyway :D

We would make a fortune with Skimlinks. And we absofreaknlutely won't be doing that.
Those are the worst!

Yup. I hate those. Won't be seeing those here.

Or porn links. Or gambling links. Or smurf enlargement pills.  You know, all of the really big money makers.  :D

I drew my line in the sand about that stuff years ago and I still stand by it.

Def,

Thanks for keeping things on the straight and level. I appreciate the effort you and the others involved put into this forum. It's a great place, with a very friendly bunch of people who keep it both light and informative. Don't think it would be the same if it was a commercial site.

:salute: :tu:  and all the rest of the best!

All very well but we know it's not your decision anyway Grant.

You'd have to talk to Plenty Function Manufacturing Inc.

I don't think you'll see the atmosphere here change. This is a great, relaxed place and I have no intention of ever letting that be any different.

This place worths billions for us. Who could pay that price? And if somebody could he would probably loose half of us, a very bad investment indeed.
Regarding porn links, I shout out loud, WE DON'T NEED THEM. MTO members are inventive peolple, we can find porn ourselves!
