Fisrt keychain multitool suggestions
on: February 18, 2015, 12:58:01 PM
Hello! I'm new to this forum but I started reading some posts this week and found it very interesting  :D! I'm from Italy.
I'm looking for a One Piece Multitool to be attached to my keychain,
Must haves are: bottle opener, philips screwdriver. The other common uses are ok.
I found that the Gerber Shard is quite interesting but I don't like it very much cause of its black coating.
On an UK site i found this: http://www.survivaldepot.co.uk/Ti_Tiger_Titanium_Keychain_Tool/p474753_5352220.aspx which seems like a titanium made shard but I couldn't find any info on the producer (Ti Tiger) online so I came here to ask if u ever heard of it or think that this is just fake titanium shard.
Got any suggestions on other tools which would suit my uses?

Thanks!

Looks to me like someone knocking off the proven Gerber design and doing it in Ti just to ride the OPT craze wave.

As for a simple tool with only a bottle opener and a screwdriver, maybe the ScrewPop.

The Shard is the only OPT I own, and I've found it to be very useful.  :tu:  I haven't tried it, but I've seen people remove the black coating using oven cleaner.  If you don't feel like giving that a go, just slap it on your keys and into the pocket it goes.  The black will wear off eventually.  :)

I'm a bit embarrassed now for not going for Victorinox right away.  :-[

Excellent suggestion, dks. The bottle opener works a treat and the phillips is the best one on any tool this size, especially on electronics. My favorite is the Victorinox Rambler though.

+1 my Rambler has been seeing a ton of use recently.  Love that little sucker.

These would be good for me, but unfortunately, are completely untraceable here in Italy.

This is really cool, but I already own a standard, not lite unfortunately, swisscard by victorinox, and this would be kinda of a double, idk  i'm not sure. It would add bottle opener and screwdriver, which is the stuff i need, but in my edc i already have a little knife and nail file, and even scissors if we look at the rambler.

Yes, it might be bigger than what you have in mind, but totally worth the extra weight.

The last idea i came up with is to get a victorinox quattro screwdriver and a separate bottle opener/pry tool such as the Navy CUI (not sure about the steel quality though) or a schrade or gecko titanium pry tools (if I decide to spend more money on that thing). What do you think?

Victorinox Manager.

Pen scales is a big plus over the rambler.

How about a Leatherman By The Numbers #10? Inexpensive, made of steel and covers your initial requirements.
