Modified my CS Rifleman Hawk
on: February 18, 2015, 07:04:16 PM

Stripped, sharpened and oiled.

Removed the hammer poll and ground a new flat on the back. Seems like there's plenty of steel left to protect the eye from the occasional tent stake.

Handle slightly shortened, shaped to fit the eye without needing the grub screw, then finished with Danish oil.

Added some friction tape for grip when choked up and to protect the handle from the occasional ding.

So far I'm really liking the reduced weight and the look without the poll. I've only had the chance to use it to chop some split logs into kindling, but the feel/handling felt great. Still might shorten it a bit more but not until after further use.

NICE.

That's does look good but I'd miss my hammer head if I did it to mine.

I'm sure it's much lighter now.

I use mine for demo work mostly.

I barely recognise it as a Rifleman, ans I'm not sure I would have if you hadn't said what it started out as.  Nice job. :tu:

That's a nice mod. And you can still beat the snot out of tent steaks
Solving problems you didn't know you had in the most obscure way possible

"And now, it's time to hand this over to our tame race axe driver. Some say, he can live in the forest for six months at a time without food, and he knows of a secret tribe of only women where he is their God. All we know is, he's call the Styx!" - TazzieRob
