Electrician

The Electrician Blade is one of my favorite SAK implements.

Here is shown on an Appretice helping fashion an extension cord.

Who else has a soft spot for the Electrician Blade?

Do like the blade and would put it on "My Troubleshooter", but at that time wasn't at hand :D

The 93mm alox electrician is my favorite. I do enjoy changing it up now and then with a modded version using a pen instead of the eblade. But either way, just a great knife IMHO.

And I should mention I like the old style cross models better. Just can't warm up to the new logo for some reason. But that's one of many issues going on upstairs. Lol.

Quick picture of a few from the Electrician drawer. I'm really beginning to feel as though I have some type of alox addiction. Might need to check into some kind of treatment program.

Beautiful SAKs. I really need to start doing some moding myself. Where can I get the threaded pins and the flat head Torx screws?

If you want to be cured of your addiction I think you might be in the wrong place.  The sort of "treatment" likely to be suggested around here is "Buy More !!!"

Syph007 did the mod work on these, except for the Ti model, which ALM made for me. His work is very good. So you'd have to check with him about locating parts. There are several other talented modders on here too, so I'm sure someone will be along to help.

Greg - you're quite correct I'm afraid about this forum. All enablers.  :ahhh

Back in the 1990's Radio Shack was selling these 84mm Victorinox Electrician's knives.  I fitted mine with a scale from a knife once sold by Swiss Air.

Those Radio Shack models are a great pocket size if you prefer smaller and lighter than the 93mm size. Like to have one in alox. ;)

I have a couple of other Electrician blade knives coming in this afternoon. I'll post pictures once I get them.

I believe I had 2 or 3 of them, as I was always forgetting one at work.  If I remember correctly they were $9.99 each.  Does anyone know when Radio Shack stopped selling them? I looked into getting another one a few years ago and they didn't seem to carry them any more.

Glad to see the Electrician getting some love. After high school when I went into the CG, I was an Electronics Tech so I carried an Electrician the entire time I was in till I retired. They worked well for what I needed to do. And the fact I could get them thru the stock system for free helped too. Lol.

Here's one I haven't had out for air in awhile. 1950 Elsener Electrician. I purchased it from a forum member (who's name I've sadly forgotten) some time back now. One of my favorites. Bear trap springs.

Gonna stick my neck out here.

I like the Electrician - I have one - And the flat sheepsfoot blade is very handy.

But to me the stripping blade is all wrong.
It's awkward, if not unsafe, to use - A much better design would be to have a small, sharp notch - like on the Swisstools - for stripping.

I would tend to agree with you. I rarely if ever use it for wire stripping. I find it most useful as a small slicer for opening boxes, stuff like that. I'd like it to be without the cutout, and no chisel grind. That's why I've had Syph make a few up for me with the small pen blade instead.

In about every case where I've needed to strip wires, it's a planned task, so I've a couple dedicated wire strippers in the tool box. But in a pinch, the SAK will work if needs be.
