Scripto VU-lighter Lighter ~ Collectable?
on: February 24, 2015, 08:19:30 AM
Dug up this apparently older lighter in a box today, called a Sripto VU-lighter. Doesn't appear the flint is working, though haven't cleaned it or anything. Has a fishing fly in the tank which I found to be quite interesting.

Not sure what this is worth, obviously more then than price tag. Am figuring is from the 1960's era for the people that owned it. The cap is chrome steel. Not exactly sure what the button is supposed to do.

I've seen worn and abused examples at flea markets. They rarely get any attention. That said, yours looks great! The less you handle it, and the less it looks like it has been used, the higher its value to a collector. Yes, there are still collectors of lighters out there, and they sometimes will pay a good price for a lighter they don't have, or one that is in like new condition. The box may actually be worth more than the lighter!
I EDC'd a SAK before MacGyver did...
