FAT SAK month - March 2015
on: February 25, 2015, 02:01:58 PM
Having endured what has felt like a long winter of austerity with the minimalist, classic and alox challenges, celebrate the coming of spring with a month of FAT SAKs.

Put away your puny Tinkers, Ramblers and Soldiers and break out your Rangers, Craftsmen, Cybertools*, Toolchests, S557s, WorkChamps, SwissChamps and XLTs.

Rejoice in the palm-filling heft of a chunky pocket knife!  Unleash the many-layered beasts!

*except for those miserly little 29s.

Now this is one I can get behind. :D What are we saying; 5+ layers to count as FAT?

Yeah, 5 or more layers.  I'm going to start with my SwissChamp, but the alox Ranger I'm building might get a look in for a couple of days too.

I was just thinking that my Woodsman hadn't seen a lot of time out of it's drawer in far too long.  Same goes for the Champion and Swiss Champ. 8)

I'm very tempted to try and make a Swisschamp work for me for a month but I know I need my full size pliers so I will not be joining you all.

I will be watching this thread.

Good luck everyone.

You guys should get by ok with this one

I was a little worried when you all were just carrying little classic s and ramblers.

This one I will pass. I always like to have a 58mm as company for the small stuff like open a letter or trim a nail as comany to a bigger SAK.

Can we enter with 5 Classics? With different coloured scales, off course.

Clever. Great solution.
Edit. But then I can only wear that. Well the idea is a little bit of discomfort I guess.

Would if I could, but I can't. :-\  I'm all for something "classic" though; a PST II or a Sideclip in my case.

I've been doing that for the last 25 days and pairing it with some ALOX thanks to a certain Irish gentleman.

I'm in with this one.  I have several 5+ layer SAKs that don't get much use because I don't really NEED to carry something that big.  Now to pick one...

Now this is something I can get behind.

Just in time too since my CT-Lite is still here. Once I get home the Workchamp, Ranger, Champion Plus and modded CT-34 can join the party.

Good times.

I'm going to think about it.

I've never really used my Swisschamp

I got mine from edc gear years ago. It's really about time I use it.

Hmmmmm

Mut and Swisschamp,  skeletool and swisschamp, hmmmm

I put my Swisschamp on my coat pocket on my lunch break.

I hope she holds up and stays good looking.
