Can Anyone recommend a basic compass please?

If this has been posted before I apologise but can any of you guys recommend an easy to use basic compass budget not a big issue but as it's a basic one I am looking about £25-00 to £30-00 or $50-00 to $60-00 us

I have a basic Silva compass like this that has served me well for over 20 years:

I agree with Terry.  I bought my basic Silva when I was twelve.   Twenty four years later and it still points north ;)

Yep you can't go wrong with a silva, and they can be picked up for well under £15 :)

I'll second (third? fourth?) the Silva. I have the clear acrylic Silva and it's a very nice compass. Filled with an anti-freeze liquid for cold climes, and has rulers on it for orienteering with a map. I've never fallen on it or crushed it, so I don't know how it holds up in that respect, but it's difficult to top a Silva.

For a basic one you should try a Silva Field 7.

Cheers for the help guys I have ahd a look at all the models mentioned and will go for the Silva it seems the most robust idiot proof one
