Has anyone tried creating exposed brass rivets on a modern Victorinox Cellidor?  I like the look.  Would it be possble to re-polish the Cellidor scales after such a customization.

See example of older style here:

Yes it's possible to do. You need to push the bushings into the scales and then carefully drill through them making the hole through the scale.
You can pre-peen one end of the pins or do both after assembly.

If care is taken with sanding the pins flush there should be no problem repolishing the cellidor, just avoid making any deep scratvhes when dressing the pins.
I haven't done a full cellidor knife like this but it's basically the same as putting wood scales on a SAK.
I have used this "drilling through the bushings" method to attach a bail to a cellidor knife that didn't have one.

I think an exposed pin modern cellidor knife will now be on my todo list. Possibly another recruit to join the parade.

It's surely possible, but cellidor is a bit ... capricious when treated with a hammer. Polishing is possible but not that easy.

Some users (including me) use wooden scales instead with exposed rivets.

Example with ebony scales

Edit: A PTRSAK already answered. I think he was the guy to create flat rivets (on wood scales too). My experience is: Mushroom heads tend to be more durable.

I think older scales are also solid not like the new hollow design.
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?

Better are old and solid, not new hollow scales. I put brass bushings inside, glued with second glue, for extra strength.

I guess an easier way to do it would be faux pins, to drill and set brass pieces in the scales that aren't attached to the rivets.

MT.O's got talent! I love this thread, I've been wondering about exposed rivets for a while now.

Yeah, great mods. Still got parts of a LNF lying around. I need to put them in a SAK.
