Utica Cattle Knife
on: March 19, 2015, 03:31:57 AM
Here is a mid century knife made in by Utica knife Co in New York.  The main blade is very worn and has a weak snap but I carry it often.  The spey blade and awl snap like an alligator.  carbon steel

Jim Dandy was a dog collar factory.  I like to carry it if I know I will be playing guitar because the backside can be used as a slide as it is as smooth as glass.

Great looking old knife. :tu:  From what I've read, the first documented case of someone playing slide guitar was a man using a pocketknife on the strings. :)

not every knife can do it.  only those with a smooth underside.

Interesting story!  :tu:
I knew my wife was a keeper when she transitioned from calling it a knife thingy to a multi-tool.

Interesting story!  :tu:

I saw a guy do that with a knife live and I asked him about it afterwards.  This was at Goober Mcools in Portales NM in 1995.  I was playing in the house band at the time.

The tone is fatter than a bottleneck or metal pipe
