SOG Powerlock with V-cutter and socket adapter
on: March 22, 2015, 01:59:58 AM
I've been researching the SOG powerlock and I'm really liking what I've been reading. The things some folks complain about don't really bother me, and the things they like really appeal to me.  But what I'm not reading much about is the socket adapter and the hex bit accessory kit, and that is one of the features that appeals to me most.  Could I get some feedback from those of you  who have this model and actually use this feature?  I did read where some folks have had a problem with the spring falling out, but the fix seems easy enough.  Thanks for your help.

I love the socket adapter. It is a tool I wish other brands would use in some of there tools.
V-cutter is alright too. However, when it dulls out, you can't really sharpen it. But they are cheap to get from SOG.

I never had a problem with the older (exposed gears) Powerlock that I used to have.  That is, until I bought a adapter socket for it.  While checking the socket for a proper fit at the hardware store, the spring came off and we could not find it.  I got a free replacement from SOG a few days later.  I would suggest contacting SOG, and see if they recommend anything to prevent this from happening.

I have the same tool and have never had any problems. The bit kit I have for it is, in my opinion, better than other brands. Mostly because it came with useable sizes including one that fits the pocket clip on almost all my tactical folders.
Get the SOG. If you don't like it one of us will take it off your hands.
