mini review,spyderco clipitool sc169p scissors
on: March 24, 2015, 04:24:46 PM
Well this is literally just through my door,I've wanted one of these since seeing prototype pics a few years ago,OK my spyderco history, I've owned a few including a ukpk, ladybug, dragonfly, grasshopper, bug, spin, and a few Byrd's,my main personal issue with the ukpk was its size,I wished it was the size of a dragon fly,one of my favourite spydies was the grasshopper,I liked its size and shape but it was too hard to oho,the ladybug could be oho but locked (not UK legal)  :ahhh  I can't win was what I thought, what I needed was something ladybug sized with no locks, and if it had good scissors  :ahhh well my prayers was answered in the form of the clipitool sc169p.This too me is my perfect UK legal edc, so how is it,its pretty much perfect, size good,I can deploy the blade OK with my thumb, adding a lanyard makes it even better, its super sharp out of the box,and the scissors work really well, and of course a pocket clip, fit n Finnish is spot on ,all blades and scissors have a good snap, blade lines up nicely when folded in,spyderco got this knife spot on in my eyes, roll on tonights shift  :salute:

Looks like a nice tool, but why carry one in preference to a small SAK?

I love my Clipitool. I have the screwdriver/bottle opener version, but I might still get the scissors version in the future. The one and only down side I found is that I actually cut the webbing of my hand in between the thumb and pointer finger clipping it to my pocket. The blade is close enough to the edge when closed that if you get some loose skin near that are you might get cut. Otherwise its been great and was inexpensive.

Nice one mate.  I've liked the look of these ever since the were announced as well, though the size was a bit of a mystery before now.  Looks like they hit the nail on the head IMO. :)

Ashley, not cut paracord yet as tbh i woul use the blade for that job,i would only use the scissors to cut paper and plastic wrist bands,it does these jobs well  :tu:

yeah Gareth i think the got the size well, although dragonfly fly size we ould be even better  :D but there a good pocket size knife  :tu:

Nice write up Paul! I've been looking forward to reading your thoughts on the Spydie. Think it might make its way onto my buy list
