Very well could be the spring in the pin has weakened or the end/tip of the spring bar has been damaged. I've also seen the hole in the lug where the pin sits become damaged. Try a new spring for a cheap first approach.
I have managed to damage the lug hole on several plastic cased watches. If you remove the strap it should be quite easy to see if the hole is deformed. Sent from a device made from star dust using tapatalk
