Watch Band Pins Keep Falling Out
on: March 30, 2015, 05:27:39 PM
The lower pin on my watch band keeps falling loose. I pop it back in and it will randomly loosen up and the one notch will fall out. This is on a Casio F91W on a velcro strap. Is it time to install new pins or just get a new band?

Very well could be the spring in the pin has weakened or the end/tip of the spring bar has been damaged.  I've also seen the hole in the lug where the pin sits become damaged.  Try a new spring for a cheap first approach.

This. Take it to a jewellers. They'll usually will take a look at it (they got magnifying glasses and tools) for nothing and might help you understand what's wrong.

I have managed to damage the lug hole on several plastic cased watches. If you remove the strap it should be quite easy to see if the hole is deformed.

I had it looked at earlier today and it looks like the pins are the wrong size. I'll have to contact Casio to get replacements or I might just get another watch.

That sounds strange. How old is it?
Are you sure the watch is original? The F91w is faked in large quantities.

It is not even two years old. I bought it from a big box store. I may have discarded the original pins when I swapped a new band on it. I called Casio and it would cost more to get a new set of pins than I originally paid for the watch so at this point, I am going to just get another one  :multi:

If you find out the spring bar size you could order just a pair, :tu:

That's the tough part. It looks like it is a 16mm bar but I need factory Casio ones for it.

I posted over in your other Casio thread.
I can include spring bars, if you like. You don´t need Casio ones, IIRC. Or maybe you do? It´s been a while since I had an F-91. does it have those non-compressible, pushed through teh lugs bars? If so, you might be bound to Casio ones. Still I might have some, but I´m not sure.

I think I might need those push through lug bars. I need a pair of the Casio ones I believe.
