Searching for 111mm SAK Custom-Modder ...
on: April 15, 2015, 07:02:30 PM
:climber:After many years, have returned to the SAK.  Now have a 111mm 'Dual PRO X' (Non-serrated One-hand Blade).  Good knife - but don't need the 'Gut Blade', nor the Phillips' (would prefer a Corkscrew).  Searching for a 111mm SAK Modder ... Advice?  Help?  Direction(s) ot a Custom-Modder? ... Thanks.  MWH.

Try contacting Syph007. He's a moderator here and out designated in house SAK modder. :D Mostly known for his ALOX mods but he did some 111mm too.

What are you interested in doing to it? What tools/layers would you like to have? Maybe there's a factory one that would fit your criteria already.

And welcome to the forum. :waving:

There are some nice charts here to help see if something already exists:

And Tattosteve, one of our own, too, made some very nice 111mm mods, too!

Am stunned by these responses - quick responses, useful - think that the Dual PRO X is 'about as good as is made' - in (for me) - in the 111mm size (altho' I have ordered a Victorinox 130mm #61 from a Cop Shop).  But there's that Gut Blade ... and there's the absence of a Corkscrew ...  In the '90's - I'm pretty old!, and retired! - I modded smaller SAK's, sure - I've owned a bunch of 'em.  But I was able, then, to special-order the rivets and the washers and the blades.  Seemingly - I've tried to order'em from different vendors, including Victorinox - seemingly, such parts can't nowadays be found.  Well, the World has changed.  Soooo ... I'd like to find a 'custom-modder'.  And I'd like to pay him.  I'll await a few days - a few name have been mentioned, perhaps more will 'appear' - I'll await, I'll wait a few days, and then I'll try to contact those mechanical artists that 'appear' in/on this thread.  You know, I just didn't expect to receive THREE RESPONSES in this, the first day! ... THANKS!

I'm interested in just finding a tutorial on how to mod the 111mm with the slide lock so I can do it myself. All I want to do is replaced the corkscrew with a Phillips and maybe add a spot for a straight pin

Be cautious not to loose teh little springunder the slidelock - It can go Airborne and MIA. Maybe best to remove the scales inside a plastic bag.

Best thing is to that is that a scissor spring can be made to work if it gets lost ;)

Just for reference, so you want a One-Handed Nomad with a plain edged blade instead of the serrated one?
