whats missing// juice xe6
on: April 18, 2015, 01:45:35 AM
I must have bad luck with ebay, and scissors
this is the 2nd leatherman within a week that I got with broken scissors and of course not listed in description

I wanted to know whats broken, if they are

and I dug out this piece of metal laying under the scissors is this like a leaf spring
and is this what makes the scissors work

Now I can see inside the other slots where the tools sit and see the same metal strip like the broken one I have
so im not sure if it belongs under the scissors
or my scissors are broken in another area

just want to know whats going on
im guessing I can send in to leatherman to fix?

I think that's the backspring, aka yes the spring that would make them work.
I'm a total legend..... in my own mind- Herley

yes after looking really close I see there is room for 2 springs
so I shifted it over and now the scissor springs open
and still snaps open and shut

I could leave it as is, and as long as the spring doesnt move to the side
which I dont think it could as there are tiny notches to keep it in one spot

or im debating on weather or not to try to weld the broken spring myself
as it looks like you can just slide them in from the outside

or send in to have replaced, if they warranty the spring
so I dont want to possibly ruin the spring if they need that broken piece for warranty
