British made sak
on: April 26, 2015, 07:16:32 PM
I thought I'd post this here for anyone interested. This was my granddad's pocket knife. Made in Sheffield back when it was the blade capital of the world, it's referred to as a champagne pattern. I can't find a date on it yet but I'm thinking early 1900's

Anyway here's some pics

I thought this was a cool OHO blade but in fact it's a tin opener. The blade below is for cutting wire on bottles

Not only does it have an awl, it has a gimlet too. Would be useful on modern day knives I think.

Nice knife  :tu:

The can opener style is also common in some older Scout pattern knives.

The "drill" is a very unusual tool on a knife

The knife is neat, the provenance makes it special!  Personal connection always makes it more valuable!

Very cool. I like that gimlet (no, I don't mean the cocktail).
I think older Victorinox SAKs had a gimlet as well.
