Elliot Lucas combination pliers.
on: May 16, 2015, 07:34:42 PM
Got a pair of these Lucas combination pliers on the way. These were considered the best by UK tradesmen, if you had a pair of these on site, you'd have to strap them to your leg or they'd walk. After having several stolen, most would opt to buy a pair from Draper, which were ok, not as good, but tended to stay put. These cost me £2.99.

Good score  :tu:

When I first started on site these were owned by the best Guys  :salute:
Covered with tough black plastic with ‘ears’ at the business end to stop your hand slipping forward

Expensive

I had cheaper pairs back then  ::)

Everything’s adjustable

I've had a pair for the last 10 years that I 'borrowed'  >:D from my father. I gave his back to him yesterday, ' ah that's where they got to.......' He was very pleased to get them back. I know it's a cliche, but they really don't make them like this anymore. Luckily, there are lots of old ones still available in good condition as they were/are bombproof.

Pliers arrived. Very solid and small. 5 inches long, not the best pic but see size compared to my Vic Ranger. Such a solid tool for the size. Think I'm going to have to get at least one in each size!

Never heard of that brand before, but they look solid. :salute: What other tools did the firm make?
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

Cheap, used tools are a great way to go! I've acquired quite a few pairs of pliers from yard sales, estate sales, etc.
I knew my wife was a keeper when she transitioned from calling it a knife thingy to a multi-tool.

Old tools are the best! Just bought this 10inch CK adjustable spanner for £3.99, you can't buy a new smurf one for that! :salute:

If that one breaks, you could probably buy another old one or two for the price you'd pay for a new one!
