I got three lights to find which one was the best to EDC in terms of operation and battery life. All were loaded with new Energizer Advanced Lithium and started at the same time. All have similar perceived light output levels.
Surefire Titan:
+ Starts in Medium mode(most tasks would require this amount of light), then High
+ Best battery life in group
+ Stays cool even after running for over an hour
+ Best beam pattern of the group
+ Smooth, one handed operation
+ Durable finish
= Can't tailstand, although hangs evenly on keychain or lanyard
- Not an ideal beam color temp
- No pocket clip
- Only 2 modes, no strobe or low
Maratac AAA v3 Copper:
+ Glow ring in lens
+ Looks the best
+ Starts in Medium mode, then Low, then High
+ Pocket clip and ring attachment
+ Can tailstand
+ Best beam color of the 3
+ Smooth operation
- Heaviest of the 3
- Got very warm after long run time
ThruNite Ti:
+ Very light weight
+ Can tailstand
- Threads are rough when turning head
- Got warm durning long use, but not as hot as
- Shortest run time, faded fastest during use
All three are great little lights and I wouldn't mind carrying any of them daily. That being said, I carry the Surefire.
