Victorinox 2015 Alox Pioneer Limited Edition
on: July 04, 2015, 02:43:20 PM
Just found these images of the new Victorinox 2015 Alox Pioneer in Dark Blue.
I wonder how many they made for each model? (Classic, Cadet, Pioneer)

I received an email from the owner and he stated they were sold out.He also had Cadets produced in that color as well.

That makes no sense at all as these are a factory run and has only just been released?
There is a Classic, Cadet and Pioneer in the dark blue for 2015.
Next year is a different color.

Maybe he was speaking only for his shop.He only had the Pioneers and Cadets listed.Perhaps he was allocated or bought a limited amount.

I just checked the website and when I click on the icons for the Cadet or Pioneer it takes me to other Vic models.

I managed to buy from the seller's ebay listing at a slightly higher price. But I didn't see the presentation box in his pictures. Are there 2 different versions of this 2015 alox?

Looks pretty cool. There was another thread here, http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,60492.0.html. Wonder how much $? I suspect less than those limited runs with numbered blades if they're making them to satisfy yearly demand.

But more importantly, where's the scissors? I think we all want to see Vic add them to the cadet, Bantam, rancher, electrician, farmer...

According to the London Victorinox store they should come with the box if bought from an official store or dealer. There is only one 2015 range for this year in this color. All should be marked 2015 on the rear panel.

This is the store that listed them and they are sold out.

Let us know if you find them at another dealer.

Actually, we know that Victorinox will add scissors to their 93mm line, we just don't know to which model.

The 2015 series is not limited by volume, you order, you get them. BUT they will only be in production until the 2016 model is out (different color).
And as the prices go, they should cost the same as their silver brethren (except the Classic which is a bit higher). In Switzerland that means Pioneer (43CHF), Cadet (38CHF) and Classic (35 CHF).
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

Sorry, I was laughing in regards to getting scissors on the likes of a Cadet or Bantam (ie, 84mm).  We know that we should be seeing scissors on a 93mm Alox sometime this year.

I'm waiting patiently for 93mm Alox versions with a color other than Black or Silver to arrive in quantity in the USA.  I'm looking forward to these!

It seems to be sold out for now but like what etherealicer mentioned, they should be available again soon because it shouldn't be limited by volume.

It is the fear that this news isn't true that drives people to snap them up at higher prices.

So, my alox 2015 Limited Edition knife arrived. Beautiful blue.
But then the disappointment:
The date on the engraved plate is white. And that can not be anodized.
It is a print on the finished anodizing! I can feel it with my fingernail.

I do not like it. Why a printing, which you can scratch away?
Why the number 2015 is not anodized?
Sorry, there is the "Alox Knife of the Year".   ???
I think an anodized year would have been the better choice.

Looks like they went the cheap route, unfortunate. At least there's something there rather than the current boring expanse of untextured alox.  :P

Here is a properly executed engraving panel, the only one they ever did right IMO. Then again there's nothing special about 2015, just another year...  :D

There is of course the DAK's and the NATO numbering, that's pretty cool too!  :tu:

+1

One would think that the primary distributors in each country would be on top of this (eg, Vic US), but that doesn't seem to be the case.

That's too bad. I sent a message to Vic last night asking about how they were being distributed and when we could see and grab these in North America. I don't get why their American channels seem so lacking.

Also, when the heck will the 93s with scissors come out? Hopefully by end of summer... and hopefully they'll be included in next year's Ltd. edition run...

Here's the response I got from Victorinox,

"The Limited Edition Alox knives will be available in the US in the Fall (anticipating October).  If you are already set up as a customer, you should receive more information, with the ability to pre-order, in the next few weeks.

Thanks.

The official release date was end of June.
There are plenty around and the cost should be similar to the regular models. Most European dealers should have them by the end of this month...
Then we can sell them to you US people for a lot more..
