One type of firearm that's held my interest above all others is the humble .22lr rifle principally the M6 Scout which I view as being probably the finest pure survival rifle ever made. Certainly if I ever get round to going in for a firearms certificate one of these rifles would be going in the gun case!

So what have you got, and what do ya like ??? :)

I always thought that one was interesting but could never stand the look of it, the one I always liked was the Henry AR7, that one broke down completly and stored inside itself water tight, and is also clip fed which also stored in the stock, Grant it it doesn't have a 410.. .22 is a good cal. you can do a lot with it!

I was tempted to get a Henry AR 7 rifle, but I already have a Ruger 10/22. With the Ruger, I have a 110 round drum magazine, which gives you a lot of firepower at your finger tips.

My father has an M6 Mike, but in .22 Hornet, not .22LR. He had an AR-7 for a long time as well, but an original Amralite, not a Henry. :)  My .22 is a Marlin 880 bolt action.  Nobody does .22's as well as Marlin does IMO. :tu:

Thanks for the comments and pictures guys :)

I always liked the AR 7 but had read that they can be unreliable?

110 rounds Dan :o Mind you the drum is probably still lighter than a 20 round FN FAL mag :D

I always loved .22lr whether it be a pistol or rifle. Its just a excellent round with unlimited uses. I'm not into 410 much, but always wanted one of the .22lr/410 over under. They have been made for many years by many different manufacturers. Just to get a idea here is what i'm talking about. Best of both worlds.

Funny you should mention that  8)

This week I'm taking on the bureaucracy to try and get a little rifle licensed and legal.

No idea about the make, but it's a side-by-side .410 and .22LR.

I came into the country on my grandfather's shoulder walking next to an ox wagon trekking out of Angola into Namibia.
My father found it broken in a box on the farm many years later, built a new stock and replaced a broken spring that drives one of the hammers.....this was about 30 years ago.

No photos, it's in safe keeping at a gun shop that's helping us.......fingers crossed all goes well  ::)

My current 22LR is a Savage MKII-LV.  Laminated stock and semi bull barrel. Scope is a Tasco 6-24x40 AO.

Not really much of a survival gun, my old single shot Lithgow 1A was much more that type. Light as a feather and surprisingly a real tack driver.

I didn't feel like taking everything out but I found these pics, sorry not the best. This is my first and fav, it's a Remington .22, I refinished it way back,

The wood one is a Sears .22(another refinish)wasn't a real fav of mine but it's a semi, the black one is my large game 30-06, savage.

How do you like that Savage Peter. I'm tossing up between the plain wood stock and another 22LR. I have heard there are some quality control issues that pop up every now and then?
