Anyone ever had a Flicking Accident?
on: July 13, 2015, 08:54:40 PM
So, I was sitting in front of my computer, flicking my tool... Its heavier than you would expect... anyway, back to the story. I was flicking, when suddenly it slipped from my grasp and crashed into the frame of my monitor...
So, I felt lucky and stupid at the same time :P

Anyone ever destroy some vase or something by flicking a Gerber into it?
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

Do it all the time...that's what I go Mr. Pinchy for...and have never caused any damage yet after more than 10 years (my fingers are crossed).

I was flicking my MP400 repeatedly, showing off to my teenage daughter.  She mentioned the possibility of me losing my grip on it.  Guess what happened the following flick?  Yup, flung it into the wall behind me, right as the wife walked into the room

I did happen to flick metal egg flip at my mates house warming a few years back, the handle stayed in my hand whilst the egg flip bit went flying into his lounge room wall a few inches from his new flat screen TV. There was a mix of shock and hysterical laughing in the air!

I hadn't even had a drink yet

Lol, I remember back in 97'
I was in GoOutdoors (camping store) and didn't know much about MT's
The sales guy was steering me towards the MP series but I really wanted the wave instead. But he kept on and on about the OHO capabilities of the MP...."have a go" he said!!

Yup, sent it halfway across the shop floor

No, I went to another shop and got the wave....got home and had buyers remorse.
Hence it's remained in its box to this day

Knife to blame-- Colonial Cutlery (in their modern crappy Chinese days, not the great US days of old) Quick Flick folder.

What happened:  I had the knife clipped to the right pocket of my new pants that had just been hemmed.    I'm at Dairy Queen and look down, and the point of the blade was sticking out of a hole in the fabric, as somehow the bottom of the blade had gotten enough pressure applied to it to allow it to flick out.  Only damage was done to my pocket and pants, I however, didn't get a scratch!

Lesson learned--Assisted Openers can be dangerous!

Hmmm.

The only flicking accident I have ever had was a somewhat memorable event for me. When I first got a Gerber Recoil, I got the bright idea to front pocket carry it for a few days to see how that might work for my EDC. Now the Recoil is unique in that the plier head is heavily spring loaded. You press a button on the handles and the pliers come out with surprising force and speed. Yeah, well this one day, i bent to pick something up and accidentally body pressed the button, which somehow swung into the "unleash the power of God" unlocked zone. Needless to say, I spent a few minutes on the floor as the Recoil shot the pliers head into one of my testicles. I was literally poleaxed. I will never ever make that mistake again...EVER!

I can laugh at it now though...just sometimes, life lessons come heavy and hard.
