Review: Money Clip
on: July 15, 2015, 02:09:31 PM
I love my Classic SDs because the tools-to-weight ratio is unbeatable, but I decided to try something from the 74mm line. Being a fan of alox, I purchased a money clip. It’s an interesting little SAK.

Scissors and blade are slightly larger than a 58mm.  People with large hands might find them easier to manipulate than the scissors on the Classic. While the scissors are larger than a 58mm, they can do the fine cutting as well as a 58mm.

The blade is more robust than a 58mm

The nail file on the Money Clip has a shorter filing surface and lacks the SD tip of the Classic.

Pros: Larger scissors and more robust blade. The clip can be useful. I like the smooth alox scales. It makes for a rather classy appearance..and it’s THIN.

Cons: shorter filing surface on the file and lacks the SD tip.

I like the Money Clip, but I’ll admit the 74mm is an odd size. You can go a little smaller (58mm) and get the same tools for half the weight, or you can go bigger (84-91mm) and have more options.  It seems the 74mm SAKs are an answer to a question no one asked.

Thanks mate for that insight... been pondering that one for a while now.
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

The 74mm line has the classiest look; the more nicely proportioned body.
Something good, visually, comes together with that line....

These are my feelings too. I had a money clip, a cigar cutter, and a Director. I've gotten rid of all bar the Director so far. Too large for keys, and too small for the pocket in my opinion

Thanks for the review, I been eyeing the money clip as well.
I wish they keep the SD tip on nail file, maybe something you can mod on?
Also I think it would be a lot better with a deep carry clip, the tool is short, it should stay in pocket as deep as possible to provent felling out from pocket.

the clip is very stout. I have no worries about losing it despite the small size.
