How do you carry your knife?

Tip up or tip down?

I figured the best for me is tip down ... if it deploys accidentally, somehow, it'll stab my leg, hopefully there's no vital stuff there, lol.

Also, it's more convenient to carry my Buck this way and use somewhat OHO "technique"

So, how do you carry yours? If you post a vid, that'd be awesome, but if not, oh well. lol

Something with clip on, prefer tip up blade opens toward backpocket. knife comes straight to palm, and locks are straight to my fingers.

I prefer tip up, but I carry a pistol in my right front pocket, so the folder goes in the left front. When carrying on the "weak" side, it is more efficient for me to carry tip down. Also, I have been stabbed on numerous occasions when a tip up knife opens in my pocket, so I always carry tip down if that's an option.

Can you show me your pistol? Does it matter of your pants, how you carry it?

For pocket knives with clip:
Tip up carry works well for me with
Wave feature or
small knives that I could reach the thumb stub while it is in pocket

Tip down carry works well for me with
Large knives or
knives being carry in places other than right side pants pocket.

So overall I prefer tip down carry.

That's reason N1 I wouldn't carry a knife tip up and I wonder how the tip-up lovers dare do it

When blade is towards back, it does not have any room to open. I usually wear jeans, or pants with similar pockets. But then i tend to choose knife that suits what i wear.

This exactly. Why would you ever carry tip up with the blade opening towards the inside of your pocket? If you carry it with the blade opening to the outside it is impossible for it to open in your pocket.

I used to carry tip down with blade opening inwards and cut myself numerous times. I will never carry a blade whether it be tip up or down with the blade able to open inwards.

I ALWAYS carry tip up blade towards back of pocket and since then I have never cut myself again.

Right side front pocket, tip up next to the side seam. I have never had a problem with a knife opening this way as it it pinned to the seam of the pocket and has no room to open.

It's amazing we didn't see blood in that video. Must have been edited.....

I prefer tip down. Over the years carrying Kershaws that are right hand only with the clip, I long ago developed a technique to draw and deploy the knife quickly. I carry my PM2 tip down as well, and Spydie drop it to open.

I have been carrying my Buck Vantage Pro since 2009. I like the deep clip carry and it is tip up. I can open it quick and easily that way. Never had it open in my pocket. Before that I carried small pocket knives or sheath knives.
