Incoming flashlights.
on: July 20, 2015, 01:22:30 AM
We need a incoming flashlight thread so here it is. I just ordered the new Maglite 3rd Gen, 3-D cell. The specs on this thing are impressive to say the least.

625lm on high for 16 hours! 406m throw (1332.02 ft)
130lm on low for 77 hours.
58lm on eco for 117 hours.

It has 4 different modes you can set to change the user interface. I'm excited to get it! Best of all its 100% made in the USA with a lifetime warranty like all Maglite products.

That seems like a pretty nice light. I've always loved the Mag lights ever since I was age 7 in scouts :tu:

They fell behind the game once LED's hit the scene, but once they go the ball rolling on those they took back a top spot in flashlight sales in my opinion. They know how to make a excellent flashlight and have a excellent customer service. In short. Maglite's rock!  :tu:

Oh yea. Got it for $39.00 + tax which is a killer deal if you ask me. I was looking at a Foursevens 2AA light that cost more and is a pocket pen light that only puts out 160lm for 1 hour. Now its all about you needed application and i'm not putting down Foursevens as I hear they make incredible lights, but the Maglite is putting out a amazing amount of light for 16 hours for less money!

The other Gen 3, 3-D cell has been redesigned and looks amazing, but was a bit more expensive. I really, really like the new look, but was not willing to pay the extra cost.

Here is the new design (I did not get).

I can highly recommend this other 3D cell Maglite I own and is VERY affordable.

131 lumens for 79 hours and only $28.50! Plus its my favorite digital camo. I have had this one for years and absolutely LOVE it.

Wait what do you mean exactly. You never knew Maglite existed or a Maglite of this output and runtime?

That Maglites had upgraded to this level performance...the last Maglite I bought, you had to buy a replacement LED bulb to put in it...been a while since I looked at them.

Had Maglites for years, since my gun shop day (1982)..

Are you going to get the Gen 3 model of the 2D cell?

Looking at this one...

http://www.amazon.com/MagLite-ML300L-2-Cell-Display-Black/dp/B00O47Q3HO/ref=sr_1_4?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1437363320&sr=1-4&keywords=Mag+Instruments+ML300L+Maglite+LED+2-Cell+D

I would not order that particular one. The code states its a Gen3, but there is no specs and it does not show without a doubt the Gen3 light. Plus its overpriced.

If you want a 2D cell, Gen3 look at this one.

http://www.amazon.com/Instruments-ML300L-Maglite-Blister-Flashlight/dp/B00MOL81QI/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1437365721&sr=8-3&keywords=maglite+gen+3

Thanks Cap!!! Got that one in the cart now!!!!

No pics yet.

I only got to mess with it last night briefly and in the parking lot with A LOT of ambient light. It is very bright! The new 1/4 turn focusing head is nice. One thing I did notice is it does not focus as much as I would of liked. My other 3D cell Maglite focuses down to a very tight beam which I really like. This might not be much of a issue though since it has a lot of throw (on paper), but I have not tested it in complete dark yet so only time will tell. I will probably go out to the pitch black park near by in the next day or so and test out the throw. I still would of liked it to focus to a tighter beam though. I will keep you guys updated on that after I mess with it a bit more. I like the new electric switch a lot, but it has the potential for accidental activation. This should not be much or a issue as its not like you are carrying this thing clipped into your pocket. The ability to have a High, Low, and Eco mode is very nice as I am always used to Maglites being single mode (ON/OFF) and that's it. The ability to change to different applications which alter the modes and offer momentary and strobe is also excellent and very easy to do. At the bottom is the graph of pre-set options you can switch it to. All in all I am very happy with the light and am glad I bought it. It is very well made like all Maglite products and a lot of light for the money.

Flashlights are fun.  And they help you see in the dark.  I'm sitting here playing with a strangely named "Larry by Nebo" flashlight, which is good to stick on the fridge so you always know where a flashlight is when the lights go out.   These are also good for older folks, as they are pretty simple.  My 78 year old mother and 80 year old uncle each use them.

Cappy, that's a good looking Mag-lite.  I know a former cop who got kicked off the force for too liberally whacking people with his Mag-lite.  This was 30 years ago before cops started carrying smaller lights.
