I love hate when that happens.......

I'd be a lot more miffed if I didn't think it still looked like a good torch the morning after.  I've no idea what I might need it for though.  Right now I'm getting by with likes of a Nitecore Tube or old Fenix E05.

It's going to blow your mind if all you have used until now is Maglites. Don't get me wrong, I have just about every classic Maglite ever made and was a big fan but their stuff is just out of date. I hate saying that because old stuff is usually better than new stuff, but in this case the new LED lights are so much brighter and have so much better runtimes there is just no reason to go back. Even some of the LED Maglites are way too big and heavy for the lumens. Very few people need to lug around a 6 D cell or even a 2 D cell flashlight anymore when a single CR123A lights give you magnitudes more light and much better runtimes. A 2 cell model will give unbelievable light and runtimes and still be tiny and weigh nothing.

I had a PD35 before, I hope this one meets my expectations.

It's a very very nice light, but after having used it for a month, I went back to my Lumintop Tool. I guess I'll still be using hte LD02 for a change, but maybe because its low isn't really low, it goes through batteries faster than the Lumintop. Its high is also higher, so .. yeah. High modes come at a price.

I admit that the Lumen output is a little low, but it looks fantastic IMO.

Yeah I didn't mean specifically the LD02 is a great light. I have avoided Fenix because they don't have moonlight modes and I find the lows very useful like you seem to be saying. I just meant if this was his first modern light he was going to get wowed. But apparently he already had one Fenix so my comments were probably not very relevant.

No, I don't get their whole "T" and "Ti" thing either.  Good looking penlight though, whatever it's called. :tu:

Hey this new Fenix is great!!! It has the standard tact tail switch (momentary/constant) but the 4 levels of intensity are switched up on the head so I can set it at my most used (lower) intensity and not have to click through them every time with my arthritic thumb!

It looks like a great light.  The spacing is nice also looks like a decent thrower.  I've always like the designs of fenix.  The side switch took me a moment to adjust to when I got my PD32 but I once my hand got accustomed I dig it.

Good feature, isn't it? :tu:  I've been a big fan of my iTP Eluma SA2 for years now and it has the same kind of system.  Sadly now long discontinued.  :-\

This Fenix LD12 is an AWESOME light....went outside with the dog and this thing would throw a ton of light down on the front gate which about 80 yards away.   :o

All on a single AA Alkaline.  8)

PS, this may be mundane stuff to you flashlight guys but this is all new to me.....
 :woohoo:

Pretty impressive what a single AA cell is capable of these days isn't it? :D  So, are you getting another LD12 or is it a different light?

You could've tried the LD09, too, they do seem rather similar, both are AA lights...

I haven't tried the LD09, though.
