(Yeah, if someone does me some good, I want the world to know about it :D I hate anonymous generosity, lol)

As promised, some pictures of the Olight i7R.

Of course they aren't professional and on top of everything I was impatient and took them at night at the light of the regular room lamp. So... that's why there are some weird angles.

Anyway, if someone else has some impressions of the light, please feel free to share  :drool:

So far I adore it. What's not to adore about it - low low and HIGH high, and a VERY quick access to the actual light - just pull the magnetic tail cap and  :hatsoff:

It came with an Olight rechargeable battery, unless one of you guys put it in?  :think:

Anyway, the pics will come in a while :D I love doing that, don't I  >:D

On top of everything the camera would focus on the background instead of the object  :twak:

But you'll get the general idea and hate how pic-heavy it is :D

The box is wooden and cool

That's how nicely the whole system is laid in the box:

All the box contents:

Find the Olight (the fenix key-ring and the clipper metal part kept sticking to the magnet  :ahhh)

Compared to its battery:

The bottom without the cap:

A couple of lame beamshots.

Dark gray wall 2-2.5 metres away, high mode:

The same wall, but about 10cm away because the camera wouldn't catch the low mode from farther:

What can I say, it's been just a few hours and I love it. Mostly because it has low mode, comes on low first, it can be held in the mouth very easily (! shut up you! ) :D, I just used the magnet and it turned to be very convenient!!

Overall 10/10 so far. I guess the only bad thing will be the too short run time on high, but oh well. That's more than clear, what can you expect from a tiny light like this and whoever doesn't like it, they'd better read some reviews before that.

I've just found my new love  :dd:

I spy a wedding ring on your hand NNR  :pok:

The light is really nice.  It must be super light even with battery.  I watched a quick review and am impressed with the charging base and magnetic on capability.  I saw that it can run on regular AAA's so thats a win however the rechargeable LIon cell is sweet.  I find even 1/2 lumen is nice so 1lm must be very usable in many situations.

I'd wear it on a lanyard myself like I do my Preon P0.

That's not a wedding ring, sadly :D No, not sadly, I hate marriage, but that's another topic :D It's just a couple of gold rings my sister bought for me when I was a kid :D Well, when i was a kid, I had smaller hands, too, so now that finger's the only place the rings fit :D

As for the AAA, it reads in the manual, too, that you can use an alkaline AAA in case of emeeeergency, though. So I'm wondering why a regular AAA would be a last resort. Of course, I'll use the Olight battery as recommended as much as I can.

I constantly carry my phone charger with me, just in case it needs to be recharged and I have where to recharge it. So now I've added the Olight charger in that case as well :D

That's my first ever li-ion battery, so some time ago after having read lots of info on what to do and what not to do with these batteries, I got pretty scared, lol, and now I hope I won't do something wrong.

Yeah, the low-modes are just awesome.

You hate marriage ?   :ahhh

The problem with LiIon batteries is mainly with cheap batteries on cheap chargers - Your phone, camera and other "toys   ;)  "/electronics probably use LiIons too, but you do not worry about it.

Using an AAA will not damage the light, but should lower the output.

Low lumens: The same way we have people trying to get the brightest light, we also have people trying to get the lowest brightness, useable, light.

There is a whole subculture on sublumen lights, that you can only "see" if your eyes have adjusted to darkness.

The idea is that these low brightness settings allow you to see, without affecting your night vision, and are used for dark walks, map reading at night, possibly burglaries, going behind enemy lines, or, mainly, going to the toilet at night.....

@dks

I loathe marriage :D

I know what people claim about the low lumens, but for me it's really .... just because I feel discomfort when at night I shine a brighter light to find the remote or do some simple tasks like this :D

Lol, thanks about the battery insight :D

I wonder if I'll be able to charge the Olight battery on a smart charger that supposedly charges all sorts of batteries. It probably should charge it :think:

@Corwyn,

They aren't black :D

if it has a totally standard, flat bottom, -ve end, you should be able to charge it.
However, if it has 2 circles, then it is designed for olight rechargeable models and can not be charged on normal chargers.

post a -ve bottom (  :P    minds out of the gutter... ) picture, or I will just have a look through google

negative, minus, -,..... or -ve   :D

OK, yes, they are standard type, protected LiIon batteries, so they can be charged on LiIon chargers.

However, i would suggest, unless you want to have spare batteries, to use the supplied charger.

some olight batteries have both the positive  (+ve) and the negative (-ve) poles on the flat end, so as to work with specific olight chargers/lights/systems.

see the 2 circles on the battery shown below:

Now, if you try and charge a battery like the one shown above on a regular charger, it will shortcircuit the two circles and destroy/damage the battery.

@dks,

Thanks! :salute:

Yes, I always try to use the recommended batteries. I have that cheapo one, the Sipik clone that also uses one of the "special" batteries of 4.2 V, I'm not sure what the battery is :facepalm:
I tried to charge it in a regular charger, but it showed that the battery was charged way too fast. Since then I've been using its provided charger only :D

What's complicated about the charging?
To be honest, I didn't use the i7R much, but with the S10R, I just put it on the charger, that's all.
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

Yyyyeah, what if people start looking to buy the other.. products.

@Eth

I don't know, at first glance it looked even a bit intimidating, lol. I haven't had another light that charges this way. It only looks complicated to me, it isn't really. But I'm just not used to having to charge a flashlight itself (while it seems you've got other such models) and charging from the PC looks really really weird to me :D It's like a shuttle ready to take off next to my mouse, lol.

But it's just me :D That's why I was wondering if I can charge the battery into a regular charger.
