How do you carry your headphones / earbuds?
on: July 31, 2015, 02:57:01 AM
I have found myself carrying earbud type headphones a lot lately, since they have started using the soft silicone buds, they are far more comfortable and wearable. I had a set of Sony noise cancelling ones that I lost at the airport (which had a small carry bag), and have yet to replace, but my Samsung S4 Mini headphones are in my pocket now daily.

Problem is, I don't store them on or in anything, and they get dirty (I work at a smelter + they are white (Why Samsung???)) and tangled.

So, what do you do?  Use a OPMT? Credit / plastic Card? Container? Please share  :tu:

many years ago I bought a pair of SkullCandy ear buds, and they came with a case like this

I keep it attached to my bag on the outside with a carabener
If I can help, let me know

Oh, and I found out about Penon Audio because they are bigbargainonline  on Ebay with a 99.8% rating and because they are well loved over at head-fi.org as an international vendor with very good prices and customer service. I've ordered from them several times.

I use a case that doubles as a phone stand 10.00 on eBay. I am happy with it. Before I got the case I wrapped the cord in a figure eight it worked good. I found how on Life Hacks. I bought a knock off Beats ear bud case on eBay for under 2.00 for my Bluetooth adapter it wood work but it is kinda big. Can you tell I like blue. ;-)

These unexpanded 2 liter bottles are good for storing things, including ear buds.  And they are indestructible.

I just bought this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mini-Case-Bag-Storage-Pouch-P-For-All-Most-In-ear-Headphone-Headset-Earphone-/171862256981 for my first set of earphones but it has not arrived yet.

I work at home and travel light when I do go out but I like to have storage for my stuff. This listing might not be his cheapest so check around. I did buy something else from him before and can recommend that seller but there are other sellers selling the same thing cheaper. I look for over 99% positive feedback so that rules out a lot of the super cheapies. Anyway there are tons of these on ebay for a buck or two.

This thread got me thinking. I put a pair of ear buds in a small pill container they fit great but they did not look so good. So I painted the lid the and covered it with duct tape. My wife liked mine so much she had me make her one. I make her pink box cutters for work so I maid her a few new ones. Her old ones were looking old.

Is that an MTO badge worthy use of duct tape for Mike 56?

It is, he just needs to send the badge request through if he wants it.  :tu:

Yeah, that's probably the best way to freehand wrap to avoid tangles. That coupled with a small pouch option seems like the way to go for now.

The Recoil Winders look cool, but can't cope with the microphone and volume bit

I'd love to get hold of one of the Nest Earphone Storage doohickies, but can't find any sellers in Aus, and eBay only has one seller and with postage and exchange, a US$10 item becomes more than AU$35

I use Jays earphones - they have flat cables that tangle much less than my old Sennheisers.  I just wind them round two fingers and slip them into a fabric bag that came with an even older pair of Panasonics.

Usaly clipped on my underwear (under the t-shirt) and connektet to my Ipod Nano 7, so im allways prepared to pull the out of my t-shirt and listen to my musik
The only downside hear is, the Caple remote ony Beats i  Ears who can easely be activate if i lift some thing for my chest, so the musik will starts to play whitout that i notice this, and at the End of the Day, the Ipod Batterie is Empty..
But because i know this issue, i often shut down the Ipod which also saves Batterie..
Your SAK is only fully yours, when it bites you, or you opend a Trink of your joice whit it
SAKs i have: Huntsman Light (Red Transparent), Workchamp (Black), Wenger EvoGrip S557 (Red), Swisschamp XLT (Red Transparent)..

You can get soft plastic bobbins that people used to hold macrame cord.  They sort of flip over to "lock".  Some people carry cord on them, but I have found them handy for ear buds, as well.  I can't remember the search term that helped me find them, but a quick search revealed that one brand is called "Bobeez".

The designs seemed fairly universal, but some do snap together.  I found that the 2.5" diameter (I think it was the "small" size) just would contain a pair of earbuds with a little fiddling, mostly to stagger the two buds on the spool.
