Victorinox Swisstool S BO (pic heavy !!!)
on: July 31, 2015, 11:52:30 PM
Here's the seventh topic about what I bought in Switzerland  :D.

This one I bought at the factory store in Ibach.  Here's the conversation I had with the nice lady behind the counter:

nice lady:  Can I help you ?
TG24: I wondered if you had a Black Swisstool ...
nice lady: Euh ... yes we do but ... you don't want that ...
TG24: Euh ... yes I do ...
nice lady: The black Swisstool in not for civilian use, it is used only by the military ...
TG24: But I would like one, since I'm kind of a collector ...
nice lady:  But it's all greasy and dirty ...
TG24: I know, I already own a black Spirit, and it was also greasy and dirty when I bought it.  And I already own a regular stainless Swisstool see ... (shows Swisstool in sheath on belt).
nice lady: Okay then, opens a drawer under the counter and gives me a box with a black Swisstool.

Even though I have a couple of BO tools, and have seen quite some dirty ones when they came out of the box (the BO Spirit was the worst I'd seen), I've never seen anything as bad as this.  This tool was a mess !!! Brown, rust color grease coming out of the plier pivot, on the plier jaws, on the tools ... :ahhh

I've tried to rub it clean with an old towel, I've used Q-tips, paper tissues, another towel ... and there's still brown stuff coming out of the plier pivot.  I know I'll get it cleaned up, and I know this is going to be a real nice looking tool after it has seen some use, but it's going to take time ...  ;)

Here are the pics (you can see some pieces of the towel/paper tissues still on it, but they'll come of in time):

Thanks mate  :salute:.

I'm really happy with it, especially cause I got it straight from the place where it was made.  My vacation in Switzerland is one of the best vacations I've had  :D.

This makes me want to have one of these swiss tools if they sold the black ones to the public. Is this something you can find online?

Yes, you can find them here and there online, for example, on this dutch Victorinox site (you'll probably find them cheaper somewhere else, but this was the first one I found).  The Victorinox product code for the black Swisstool is 3.0323.3L, that should make it easier to find it online  ;).
