My thoughts on the CRKT Lake 111: its a nice little knife. Sharp ,well built and tight at a nice price.
I dont really see the point of the ekstra locking mechanism that prevents the backlock from releasing the blade though. I have never experienced a lockback failing, and I dont think I will ever put that much negative pressure on the blade of a folding knife even if it has a extra lock.

Next CRKT is the Journeyer :)

Here are some pics of the next CRKT out. The journeyer.

Its another Liong Mah design, and has a similar bladeshape, but thinner, and the same "slipjoint: mechanism as the Liong Mah #6. In addition it has a pin/torque driver that can be inserted into a hole through the handle and blade to lock it.
Im looking forward to see how useful that really is.

Still struggling a bit with the tanto-shape. However, I had a huge un-boxing job to do today and it worked fantastic with perfect tip precision :tu: (No pictures as I didn't have my phone with me and I was a bit under time pressure).
I will have to see if I can remove the clip. Without the clip it could make a really small back-up knife.
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

The journeyer cuts like a champ.
However I tested the "fixed" blade configuration with the pin locking the blade. The blade had some vertical bladeblay with it inserted, and vigourous twisting and cutting caused the pin to come loose and fall out. :(

Next CRKT out is the Ritter RSK MK5

I havent EDC'd a fixed blade since I was in the army. But the MK5 is so small it fits nicely in my pocket. The question is will the advantages of a fixed blade outweigh the disadvantages of the very short edge compared to a folder?

My CRKT Incendor. This is my only CRKT knife. The other two I have are multitools. Was impressed with the size and build quality of this knife. Was not built to be "light and thin", but to last!

The pictures of the knife in hand does not account for hand size....

I'm not upset I bought it since it was rather cheap, but if it wasn't a special order it never would've left the shop with me.

Ill start out with the Liong Mah #6
(Image removed from quote.)
(Image removed from quote.)
(Image removed from quote.)
(Image removed from quote.)

The blade is 2,77inches long and is a CE blade.  CRKT call it a slipjoint, even though there is no back spring. It looks like it locks the blade with two springs in the liners that push two small pins(?) into indentations in the blade.
The finger coil prevents the blade from closing on your fingers. The handle is G10 and has a deep pocket carry clip.

I can actually blame Kirk for getting this one. He posted Hennies sale on it, and I jumped on it :D

First impressions:
It has a very thick blade for a folder (4mm) and is quite heavy. It came razor sharp out of the box. No blade play, and the mechanism is very smooth. I keep opening and closing it while typing this.

How is the edgier? It seems like a gimmick.
Nice one  :tu: I have the #5 which is the plain edged version  :)

I also have a Snaplock, a McGinnis Tuition, an Edgie, and the recently won Kit Carson Tribute M16Z. That might not sound like many, but that's more clipped OHO folders than I own by any other knife company.

I'll not be comitting to specific carry for a month, that's not my style, but I'll be reading this thread with interest  :salute:

A friend of mine loves custom and high end knives but like me appreciates quality and value when he sees it.

He often carries this little guy.

BTW the knife posted above is also the Squid. I'm looking at the RSK MK6 quite seriously, bigger than the MK5 and better steel (8cr13 vs 2cr)
Anyone have one?

We visited my inlaws cabin this weekend, and I decided to see how useful the MK5 would be for fire making.

Look! Im a big boy!

The blood came from a hole made by a big splinter while batoning.

It got the job done, but slow and painfully. Feathering was not very comfortable. However it proved that it was a lot better than nothing.
